WENSLEYDALE WEEKEND

Post by Geoff and Vicki Edge » Mon Sep 30, 2013 5:34 pm

Our order for some decent weather obviously was heard for our Lincolnshire MGF/TF Register weekend away in Yorkshire 27 - 29 September! Right from the off we had glorious warm sunshine which meant three days and over 450 fantastic top down miles. The weekend started with a convoy of eight MGF's and TF's going up the A1 to our accommodation near Bedale which we had filled to capacity.

We had tea, sandwiches and cakes on arrival and a chance to watch the sun setting.

Then we were off to a local pub that serves great food and they were kind enough to cone off their car park so that we could all park together.

Saturday morning and after a substantial Yorkshire breakfast it was tops down again and off to the North Yorkshire Moors.

Some branched off to grab some fish and chips at Whitby and the rest parked up at Goathland and had a look at the North Yorkshire Steam Railway 40th Anniversary Gala.

Another great drive back at the end of the day and we were just in time to sit down to a three-course dinner after which there was some pitting of wits in the after-dinner games. The responses of some of the competitors had us all in stitches - you know who you are and each one of you is now a legend in your own right!!

On Sunday morning - guess what - another substantial Yorkshire breakfast (when in Rome etc.) before heading down to the woods for some strategic play in the Pokerface Treasure Hunt. We thought we had considered all the possible tactics but there were still some ingenious ideas that we hadn't thought of. Congratulations to Joe and Emma on their winning hand of four Kings!

We finished off the trip with a drive through to Hawes to visit the Wensleydale cheese factory and still managed to keep the top down all the way back to Lincolnshire.
