Greetings from a new MGF owner
Hi All,
Recently bought a 2000 vintage VVC and am trying to get her all fixed up and roadworthy which is turning out to be more expensive that I first thought . This is my first MG and only my second sports car. The first being a Mk11 Spitfire back in 1980.
The VVC came as an e-bay purchase with a known rusted front sub frame however we are now at the stage of replacing the following:-
Front sub frame
Ball joints upper and lower
Front brake hoses
Front ARB drop links
Front ARB rubbers
Front shock absorbers
Alternator and belt
Both head lights
O/S/F indicator as it was broken
Windscreen wipers
Bought a good used sub frame complete and have stripped most of it down. had the ARB, caliper carriers, tower clamps and both upper sub frame bars blasted to remove rust. These have been under coated and the uppers under sealed before they get a colour coat of paint. The carriers and tower clamps will get stone guard then top coat paint.
Was going to wire brush off the main sub frame as it looked good but on closer inspection that too will need to be blasted to get the rust out of the nooks and crannies before being treated to protection. Am still awaiting delivery of the replacement head lights which seem to be taking an awful long time in the post. This is her right off the trailer on arriving at home:-
and this is her before the trailer trip in the awful rain:-
We still have a fair bit to do to get he ready for an MOT.
Until we get the MGF on the road transport is a pair of Rovers in 75 & 623 guise both in White Gold colour the MGF is Tahiti Blue for a change. Will try to get down to the monthly meet at The Nelson which we know quite well in fact.

Thank you for the welcome. Sadly it's not as good as the photos make it but we will get it sorted out eventually. A valid MOT pass is the first thing to get.

Hello and welcome. Look forward to seeing photos of the progress. The effort will be well worth it

Welcome! Hope it's on the road soon and gives you many years enjoyable driving. Really nice set of wheels on it too by the way

'02 TF 160 - an Original MG Rover Group Press Car...and still lookin' sharp!
Bilstein Shocks, Z&F Remap, B&G Coolant Alarm, Glass Rear Screen, Braided Hoses, Bling-free at the moment...but that'll probably change

Re: Greetings from a new MGF owner
Well things are slowly coming along. Painted the Tower Clamps, caliper carriers, ARB and the upper strengtheners for the sub frame. The drilled out the lower arm ball joints and removed the drop links. Am awaiting a new welding helmet so I can weld up the tie down eye which was damaged badly and cracked when I beat it out and back into shape.
If the weather would clear up a bit perhaps we cold get the car out and get some paving laid for the jacking and stands so the front sub frame can be removed to change it. If only the special 1 3/16" socket for the upper ball joints would turn up and the replacement headlights that were bought off a member of another forum on the 12th January along with the alloy throttle body then we would be almost ready t complete the job. Have to get new bolts for the sub frame and ARB along with new rubbers still though.

Re: Greetings from a new MGF owner
The VVC is coming along slowly. Slowed by the diversion of a second Tahiti Blue MGF this time a 97 MPi. Have sorted most of it's little issues out for the MOT just have the near side rear sill to get repaired and hopefully that will be it.Will be seeing about booking her in for this this morning. So far have replaced O/S /F track rod end, O/S/R suspension displacer, nicked the wheels off the VVC as the original 6 spokes the rears need refurbishment and new tyres, got the suspension pumped up and 4 wheel laser alignment carried out.
Later this year she will going in for some bodywork to fix up some dents to bring her back to how she should be. So for the next meet should be in an MGF .
