Hi everyone, recently bought myself a 97 Mgf vvc but the suspension definitely needs pumping up, one side sits much lower. Does anyone know of any garages which do it? I know there's one in Spalding but was wondering if there was a closer one to me (spilsby). Thanks for any help

Tempests of Stickney still have an old pump and although it looks pretty dreadful actaully works. he charged me around £40 to do mine when all it had in was compresed air to get it to the garage. A tope up is probably less. The workshop and MOT bays are now leased out to :-

I am at Friskney and have a Oil Gun pump off ebay if your really stuck. it works but does take a while. It's what I did the 75th Anniversary suspension with after swapping the front subframe.

That's ace, I wondered if Tempest would as I'm sure they used to be a Rover dealers, shall aim to raise some funds and take it in. Thanks for the offer of the oil gun, is it hard to do DIY?

No not hard. One need a bit of level ground a way of measuring the ride height the pump and fluid.

Yes Tempest were Rover until BMW got involved as then Tempest were not big enough nor flashy enough for BMW's image. I got very positive comments when I took the Rover 623 GSi in for it's MOT in 2014 as it was one of the brothers doing the test and he used to sell the 600 and 800 range.

Nice to know they are still appreciated, always liked the 600. Will get in touch with them for the top up as I'd most likely muck it up doing it myself!! Might link it with the mot, not due til April but i'm not likely to use it over winter anyway, spending my time trying to smarten up the interior at the moment, although the outside is far worse!!!

Mine it seems are a bit like the Forth bridge ................................................ there is always something to do on one of them. It's "Elsie" my 97 VVC that is having some things done at the moment.

I have a list as long as my arm but, to be honest, i'm having fun! Not got a clue how to do anything hence the interior work, just hope it is as mechanically sound as it seems.

Perhaps we should meet up? After all your only about 7-10 milesa way. I am no expert but then again no stranger to spanners etc. There is a restoration build on the 75th Anniversary somewhere here to give an idea of what i have tackled so far..

Thank you this was the 3rd one that I have taken on. Both other project threads are on another forum though. On "Elsie" my British Racing Green 97 VVC she got a total interior swap over to a MY2000 one in Walnut and Cream with half wood steering wheel. Currently off the road whilst we gather funds to have her sills repaired for the MOT. The 97 Blue MPi has had less work on her really, rear brake lines, braided hoses, new shocks, brakes replaced lower ball joints a couple fo top ball joints....................... oh yes nearly forgot a sphere replaced.

I would love to, as mine mine is also a 97 brg vvc I'd definitely like to see that!! You are very lucky to have 3!

Well they all required work and saving. The 75th cost £250, the Blue 97 MPi £170 and "Elsie" the 97 VVC cost £155 off ebay with 6 months test remaining. Only "Blue" was able to be driven she had 9 days test left. "Elsie" was losing coolant, suspected HGF, but it was in fact the radiator and an ill fitted hose so was not drivable for any distance so she was recovered by trailer from Birmingham at a cost of £137. The 75th was in Tamworth and had not been on the road due to overheating problems, and alot more as it turned out, for around 18 months so she was also trailered back by the same chap for £135.

Mother dropped a bombshell today it seems she is seriously considering selling the place and moving to a smaller property which means that I will have to sell at least 3 of my cars. I also have two Rover saloons, a 623 GSi and a 75 Connoisseur, so we shall have to wait and see what becomes of this idea.

Wow, you are a lucky guy with all those! Would be a real shame if you had to lose 3 . I am about most weekends dependent on what the Mrs has planned for me but I will definitely try and get over soon, unfortunately not in the f tho, currently not taxed

There was areason for two saloons ................................ dads wheel chair and one as back up should one have problems so we could make the Doctors and hospital when needed. Now though he cannot even get into a car so it's hopstial transport or call connect. The F's are my sanity check.

It's nice you considered your parents so much in car choice, did I read you were a full time carer? Fair play to you. I know the parrot zoo so have a rough idea where you are at, probably aim for next weekend if I can if that's ok?
