Suspension Services in Derbyshire

Post by Andy Clap » Mon Sep 16, 2013 11:09 am

Hi All
So I've just bought an MGF and the hydragas needs topping up (currently riding at 310mm).
Can anybody recommend somewhere in Derbyshire to do this please, and also a proper 4-wheel alignment (I don't trust the spotty kids in most tyre centres to do a good job!!).
Is it worth forking out on a hydragas pump, how often does it tend to need doing?
Cheers,
Andy

Austin Garages (very highly rated, and near Brton on Trent) or Luffields (MG Dealer) will be able to do this for sure 8-)

Hi Andy,

Might also be worth a look on http://www.hydragas.co.uk/ for someone local to you.

I've actually bought a small hydragas pump (the filler gun type from ebay) but have not used it yet otherwise I would offer to do it for you. Probably best that I try it out on my own first ;-)

Hi
for your four wheel alignment you could try these:-

ETS tyre and auto centre
Alfreton Road,Derby
DE21 4AP
‎ 01332 342005

I had my TF done there a couple of years ago, all the computer kit and you can watch the set it up.

Thanks. I actually looked at those pumps on eBay, would come in at something like £60 delivered. Then you have to buy the fluid. I just called one of the places on the Hydagas register and they said £20. Hmm.
I do like collecting tools though!!!

Thanks for the alignment recommendation :)

ETS quoted £49.95 for the alignment which seems okay if they know what they're doing.

I'm finally getting the car on the road at the start of February (had it since September and it hasn't turned a wheel!).

Have you tried your pump yet? What do you think of it?

Hi, glad you're getting sorted now. Hope you'll be able to get along to some events once it's back on the road.

I've not tried the pump yet but I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet soon as it's looking a little low and the ride quality is poop at the minute. I'll be sure to let you know how I get on. Some feedback I've had is that they are OK for a quick top up, but not really up to a full pump up if you have to drain them completely. We shall see.

Cheers

I bought an ebay pump in January.
Done 3 cars now so it's almost paid for itself.
Pretty easy, but I did a chaps over in Uttoxeter that was sitting on the floor and it took ages
