6x9s in the front?

6x9s in the front?
Maybe a daft question, but is it possible/ has anyone fitted 6x9s in the front doors in place of th's OEM speakers?
I would like to try as the sound in mine is pretty rubbish and the tiny rears don't really add much to the sound stage.

Re: 6x9s in the front?
You are better off putting upgraded speakers all round, I have JBLS GTOs in the doors (15 cm iirc) then 6x4 in the Tbar I also have 6x9s fitted into a panel taking up some of the passenger footwell. All JBL GTOs
You would have to cut the metal work to fit 6x9 to the door and would also have shallow fit 6x9 which won't have the same effect.

O/E speakers in decent condition and an active under (in my case behind) seat sub AND a decent head unit work very well.

Sound deadening material in the doors will help to.
Re: 6x9s in the front?
thanks guys.
I have already fitted fli audio speakers in the doors, and to be honest I don't think they are any better than the OEM ones.
I have been spoilt over the years running Kenwood amps and Infiniti speakers and subs in my Volkswagen. Still have some infinti mids and tweets in the garage, but would need to fill in the bass some how. Maybe a sub would be the best way to go.

I'm just fitting 1x4" and 1x5" in place of the poor quality stock speaker
As above.. Dynamat or similar entire inside of door skin..
