Hi, can anyone recommend some cheap sound deadening for the doors.
Can't afford dynamat. I read that flashing can be used but can smell on a hot day?

The black foil backed material used by the manufacturers of sound deadening material is not bitumen but butyl-rubber which is a synthetic compound. It may look similar to bitumen but is quite different not only in its resistance to heat but butyl-rubber has an internal structure that is very strong and resists wear and stress which is why it is used for this purpose. A similar material, in clear form, is the interlayer used in bullet resistant glass which holds together extreme conditions.
Bitumen is an oil based product hence the fumes given off when the temperature rises.
Obviously any material attached to a vibrating panel will help but the question is does it perform at all frequencies and is it suitable and resilient for the environment in which it will be placed.
Dynamat is probably the best known product and is produced in the US, there now UK manufactured products now coming on the market such as Brown Bread.
The Sound Deadening Shop is a good place to look at the various types and brands of product depending on whether you are trying to stop vibration and or absorb unwanted sound.

The best solution is to drive around with the roof off
