CD43 Enters the 21st Centuary

Post by ashleyfrazer » Wed Apr 19, 2023 5:59 pm

Hi

After well over 10 years of searching for a CD Changer for my CD43 Business Radio I have finally found a solution.

Being pretty ham fisted I got an audio technicial to fit it - took him well under 30 minutes including the testing - getting the cables in was a little tricky (the bulk) and he had to remove the triangle side panel to route the cables but its in and it works!. Spotify can be streamed from my phone (it will do calls etc if I was to plug in the microphone and wire it around the windscreen but I only want music. Double pressing the CD button seems to take control of phone and make it play (amuses me that a radio from 1999 controls a phone from 2022 - but maybe just me)

The item I used came from eBay (still available at time of writing)

Bluetooth Music Hands free MP3 adapter Fits BMW E46 Z3 Business radio
eBay item number:124996523747

It consists of a small harness that goes between the wiring coming from the car and the back of the radio. Remember you are adding a small harness and not replacing it and you will be fine.

I am attaching a few pictures in case it helps. The little BT box would just about fit in the old cassette space but we decided on velcro in the middle because it looked a bit better. (I would attach a video of it playing but I am under the impression we can only do pics - if not and you want I will make a short video of it working)

Late to this thread, but love this - particularly as it retains the standard head unit for original looks! :thumbsu:
