Oh, I remember that feeling VERY well Mykel! :?

Thanks for re-posting the picture - must have missed it before - but yes, loads of space - a really neat solution! Is the turbo very close to the block? Or plenty of space there too?

As for consciousness and subconsciousness, Cadde's Id, ego and superego ... well, I wouldn't like to comment! ;)

Cadde, I'm loving this build - keep at it! :D

Also known as a 'Blue Peter job' in the UK!

(May not make sense to those in other countries. Actually after the style of a UK childrens' programme, 'Blue Peter', that made craft things, usually with an example hence 'here's one I made earlier'!)

Ah, that kind of programme, Tipper! :thumbsu:

We had that for adults, too. Hosted by a guy called Jean Pütz, with looks halfway between Albert Einstein and Kaiser Wilhelm and a Cologne accent, the show was called “Hobbythek”. They came up with the craziest diy projects which usually either took too long to complete on the show or were bound to fail massively, so one of the catch lines by Pütz was “isch hab da mal wat vorbereitet ...” (here’s something I prepared earlier ...)

ahhh, spring !

As i have all parts together now im back on putting it all together ...

Made nice progress the last few days , so far ...

Put on the manifold for the first time and , what a surprise , the holes werent aligned correctly , so we had to made some bigger bores and flexxed the end open to make it fit, as you can see here :
Aufgeflexxt.jpg

and for a smile : one of these had a bad winter ...
ach du Scheisse ....jpg
Mykel and i switched parts as the bluet has to get german TÜV ...

and i allowed me, to get around that, dont care for TÜV for now ... so i got the turbo, elbow and downpipe from the blueT ...

i dont have to make an exhaust , thats a big time and money saver , cause thats a complete build based on backbook money and times for musicians are tight ... ( as everywhere , unless you play and make crap )

I also ditched the water cooler for now , will do certainly later , also decision based on no money in my pockets ...

On the weekend i hopefully get the engine frame back under the car again ...

Sorry folks ,

i´ll put the old exhaust under ( the rest of it ) , it´s plug and play ... the downpipe is long, is reaching to the cat ...

front :
so siehts aus .jpg
and from above :
von oben.jpg
I think it´s necessary to replace the oilfeed , i can imagine its way too hot there ...

what do you think ?

Oil feed may be okay - but would certainly benefit from extending the heat shielding Cadde :)

Interested in what you're saying about the down pipe to the cat - you can re-use the original turbo item and it'll reach the cat?

i will report, Rob , regarding the dowpipe length ...

when the blueT also used the original cat and exhaust backbox , it should fit , i say ... i´m going to use the same parts ...

next long weekend comes a skillful crew ( forum members from outer hell, great guys ) and the subframe will definately go back under the car, also the harness / Emerald / injector parallel universe will be visited ...

and sure we´ll have some big laughs, cause of my mechanic skills ... ;)

I imagine smelling the tyre rubber steam on the street ...

another clear imaginable picture in my head is : the car is burning lonely on the street ... :?

Hi Cadde, I think you're talking about the BBR down pipe aren't you? Unfortunately, the BBR manifold was mated to a GT25 turbo - which has a different output flange to the GT2052LS used on the Rover 1.8T

I didn't think that through! - I thought for a moment that you meant that the Rover down pipe could be used, but that is almost certainly not the case?

Yes ! T25 with elbow and bbr downpipe ...

downpipe on the 2052 has to be made.

The rover part cant be used for the mgf...

i saw one made by Kostas on the rover org forum recently ...

Allright , a small update on my build from today.

Two dear friends helped me out and discussed the next steps under really harsh conditions under my carport , it nearly snowed ... freakin cold ... :|

emerald harness from mems2 to mems3 done , yet untested ... :D
Magician at work.jpg
red stripe injectors, fuel rail, done ! :)
my buddy tweakin´.jpg
we made some progress today ... nothing mayor, right ... but one step after the other ... ;)

i layed nearly the whole time in the dirt, as i tried to get 2 broken subframe screws out ...

uhhh , i sucked ...

oilfilter is way too long , as it interferes with the elbow, i have to get a shorter one ... no way to get a heatshield between these two parts ...

5 weeks to mgfim ...

uhhh ...

it´s been a great day nonetheless ...

ask the doctors again ... ;)

i was told that the block of an 1.4 k series has already much bigger liners in there, block is more stable , capable of 300ish hp ...

huh , is that true ?

or has the block to be filled with the some ingredients as ductile liners , shorter rods and/or custom pistons ?

as i would think ...

or could it be, that a 1.4 block with a shim, is capable to do it out of the box , so to say ?

just tinkering around ...

as i´m waiting for parts ... silicone hoses ...

subframe is still not under the car , sheeeesh !

but i´m close to finish ...

i want one of koos´ manifolds ! Wow, great work from down under ... :thumbsu:

how to wrap the log type manifold with the heat protection band, is the upcoming story ... :?

still 5 weeks to MGFIM ...
