Bit difficult to see, but especially given the interior pics, isn't it just a normal TF with a hardtop on?

Basically, yes. It was yet another one of the special editions that they made without really being very special.

Looks more like a dealer special rather then an official LE to me, as it doesn't appear to have any unique features that couldn't have been specced from the options list.
MG Austrailia may have just ordered a bulk number of cars (say 10 in each colour) to get an additional discount from the factory.
Its then possible Longbridge closed before all the cars were supplied/exported and any remaining stock were registered in the UK.

..................Monogram Black Olive (unique to coupe model)
.....................Factory fitted removable hardtop. These are coloured coded to the vehicle and include a rear window demister. Canvas soft top remains a standard fitment to the vehicle, allowing the hard top to be removed for open top motoring

I wasn't really refering to the color.........more the fact about the factory fitted roof thingy that was quoted on the original thread.
Someone thought it might be a coupe and not a convertible.

The first time I saw the Coupe I thought it was just a TF with a hardtop. The last of the TF's sold here were all caled Spark ie TF 120 Spark which were all with the CVT G'box, TF 135 Spark and last of all TF 160 Spark. The Spark pack included some new colours and leather or part leather trim, Blue soft top roof, Front fog lights, Wind deflector and External bright trim.
Piper 4-2-1 Manifold, Daytona Back Box, Stage two Remap, Bilstein Shocks, thicker anti roll bars, PG 1 gearbox Caged bearing with type B Ltd Slip Diff. Large rear brake Kit, Toyo R888R Track/road tyres. Half Roll Cage, 4Point Harness.

According to the Production Records, only 38 TFs made in Black Olive - of this i am assuming that 30 of them were the Australian Coupe LE.

Assuming this car isn't an import (if it doesn't have air con, then it isn't an import from Australia, i believe aircon was standard on the Coupe LE), then it is one of only 8 made...

The Oz "Coupe" was a limited editionof 30 cars all with the factory fitted hard top and of similar spec to the UK "Sunstorm". They came in Starlight Silver, Nightshade Blue and Black Olive. Available only in the TF120 and TF160 versions.

However 38 were actually made in Black Olive so that means that several went elsewhere assuming that some of the coupes were in the other colours. 29 of those had the Champagne Oxford Leather interior.

This one could be an Oz one that came back or one that never went in the first place.

First post

I am struggling to reconcile the car that I own with the information available from others on this site, viz the MY2005 ?

I think it is an MY2005 but no glass rear screen. It has a CVT box and is therefore perhaps a 120 Spark ?

Its VIN is SARRDWBGJ5D638053 built 22 September 2004 complied 2005.

Sold by MG Rover Administrators Lot Number 60, at an auction in Sydney NSW Australia on 13 June 2005.

SAR (UK make id)
RD (MGF marque /model)
W (trim level)
B (body)
G (engine 18004VMP)
J (transmission /steering steptronic)
5 (model change 2005)
D (assembly plant Longbridge)
638053 (vehicle serial number)

The plate listing Paint IAD (JZM trim) does not match, as it is closer to Starlight Silver rather than the Glacier White that it is supposed to be, however this may be explained by a respray (inside as well) when (from the history I have been able to discover) it was repaired after having been written off following an accident in 2006.

Although it was repaired and re-registered after the accident, unfortunately I have had to replace the bent steering rack; also had to replace worn strut assemblies. Car speedo is now about 48000 k.

It has 15 inch mag wheels, a blue ragtop and blue inset leather seats.

Maybe exported cars were not the same as those sold in Britain ?
