£25k for an F

Post by Mike H » Wed Jan 30, 2013 11:01 pm

£25k for an MGF on Pistonheads

PH Ad

Have to say that regardless of spec I can't see it being worth £25k, although at the end of the day it's value is what someone will pay for it...

This is a very special F and I think in a few years time it could fetch 25k, but not at the moment. The cars been on sale off and on for about a year now with no takers, I just think its 5 years to early to get that sort of money for it.

Ah, the Supersports 2. This is a historic motorshow concept vehicle seen at Geneva in 1999 and in much MG Rover publicity material. It has provenance - and therefore it will always command a high price.

However, in the current depressed market, and with values of MGFs equivalent to the same price as the stereo you fitted to it, £25,000 may not be the price that it will currently sell at :( I think Andy is right - it will be worth that, but perhaps when the market has recovered, and when people start to realise the significance of our cars in British Motoring History... the last affordable, all-British designed and built roadster, and the first road-going British roadster with a mid-mounted engine, the last car to be fitted with Hydragas, and the first European car to be fitted with EPAS etc etc etc... It will become a classic. The only question is how many will be left by the time people cotton on to the fact.

For me, the car was taken too far away from the original to command the same value as it would have in that condition.

Historic yes, worth £25,000. Not a chance. I can literally buy 40F's for that.
