Don't forget that the car gets tracked ;)

I would of expected them to last longer than that though Mike 8-)

Seeing sun was out I took the time to give it a good wash and valet.

Plan was to wash and polish the TF.....but got called into work twice, so ended up with just a quick wash :-(

Gave the plastic rear windows a going over with Claygate. It removed the light scratches from the recently acquired Mk2 top that is now on "Blue 33". The VVC's rear window was very opaque but it has improved it. I think another session will improve it some more but now you can see through the window unlike before.

Then gave "Blue 33" a bit of a clean and a quick polish. The paint really needs correction as it's covered in something. Possibly hardened tree sap as she was sat under some large tress in South London.

Went for a country lane spin, and a small blast around Milton Keynes. Getting much happier with the car now and starting to use some of it's handling and performance through the gear. I've got into the habit of block changing on the daily and it doesn't suit the TF. Neither does trying to select sixth at 70 on the A5. Opps.

Ohh and a hoover, wash and polish before putting her back to bed for another week.

Fitted the glass screen from MGF Mania that I picked up at Stoneleigh. Seems to have tightened the hood quite a bit but there seems to be some ripples in the fabric around the glass, does this settle after a while or have I got a dodgy one?

Phil, when I looked into buying one I was told to leave the roof closed for a few days to let it stretch out

Thanks daz, I quite like the tightness as the roof was starting to sag quite a bit and flap about on the move. Just the ripples I'm mildly concerned about will give it a week or two to settle.

Wunderbar Steffi

I know the German TUV (lasts for 2years) is much stricter than our yearly MOT
Nick at up Austin Garages did a great job in preparation for your TUV :thumbsu:

Fitted this:-

and got both remotes for the Pioneer stereo working, new batteries work wonders. Have just changed the gear lever gaiter from the original Black to the new "Topgaiters" cream leather one. Will get it back into the car tomorrow now.

After driving for almost two years with stuffed rear spheres and a disasterous fitment of a Suplex kit ( any one want a kit cheap ).
Today I fitted two second hand spheres that I bought five years ago and put some where safe, well I have just found them again!
WOW what a difernce it's my F of old, watch out my next hill climb..............

Is the suplex kit rubbish then? Allways wondered what they were like. Supprised nobody has tryed fitting coils within a empty sphere, there must be a easyer, cheeper and less hastle than resorting to tf subs.

Fitted the rest of my Stoneleigh purchases yesterday, the airbag blank with all the right clips so it won't fall out under heavy acceleration, and the new clip to hold the bonnet support in place. £7 (in total)well spent :thumbsu:

Really need a decent tool box now though as am gathering quite a collection, most of which are getting lost in the DIY stuff that I just throw in the tool tote.

Refurbished both front wheels (curb rash to rim) patience is a virtue with this job, things learned 1: allow 24 hours before applying varnish/lacquer to paint and 2: time spent in preparation will make all the difference.

Charging the battery. All of the work on the doors and locks (presumably because they were open for so long) has drained it completely.

There is an Australian kit that uses GAZ shocks, it also recommends using lowering pins. The quality of the canisters and springs are excellent.
Having compared the two the Australian kit is far better quality but more expensive. There are a few web sites that have forums on the Suplex kit all negative. I should have looked them up before purchasing, would have saved my money.
I have lowering pins and use GAZ shocks anyway, and to revert back to the standard suspension would be a mistake. Using the spheres and my changes have resulted in very good handling, but the cost of even second hand spheres makes these kits viable.
