Finally got round to dealing with some surface rust spots that have been annoying me. Prep work nearly finished - trouble is the spray shop can't take the car til late June. If you see a dapple silver MGF at MG Live, you will know whose it is!

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Not done yet still struggling to get the exhaust hanger bolts out. Looks liek am going to have to drill them all out..................................... wonderful.
Edit:- Only had to drill out the drivers side today but the passenger side needs to be done at some point so will get some new S/S brackets and new rubbers for when we tackle this. Anyhow we have a decent looking exhaust:-
Not driven her with it on yet but have started her up and she it a little quieter than "Elsie" the VVC even though it's the same system, front pipe, CAT, and rear box Now we just need some decent tyres for the front and a proper 4 wheel alignment.
Oh yes and some road tax........................ Monday .

Picked it up today, complete with two new coil packs (one was arcing badly apparently) and a new set of leads, and a reasonable bill to accompany itMike H wrote:Dropped mine off at A E Wilcox yesterday after it started missing under load at low revs and the the EML came on
Interesting to feel how sweetly it drives now, to the extent I wonder if I should have picked up that something wasn't quite right before it actually became too apparent! Never mind, sweet as a nut now.

Driven through France (passed and around the GP circuit in Reims) to Naples, visited the main and so less known site locally.
Ok, this wasn't all today but over the last week, it has been top down most of the way, and defiantly every day.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Dyed the arm rest which is now a reddish colour. It's too purple really but it will have to do for now:-
The colour looks like it might be good for touching up the wear ont he Rover 75's steering wheel as she has the Personal Line Aubergine interior.
Anyway by the weekend she will have a pair of new tyres on the front then next week hopefully the Falken 914's will arrive from Germany and then they will be fitted then we can get the alignment done with the new tyres all fitted.

Was just about to post an advert for "Blue" on Gumtree when I thought ................................ Hmmm registration number so did a little lookign online and have now sold her reg number to a dealer in such things. So soem paperwork to complete, proof provide and then she will have a normal age related number. Once we have that will redo the advert and put her on there for sale.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Over the past few days I've fitted a VHS Ride Improvement Kit and the 85th Anniversary ARB kit to my LE500.
I've learned a few things.
I may have the old dampers and ARBs available later if anyone can find a use for them.
I still have to rust proof the rear subframe and refit my Daytona back box before testing but that work can wait until tomorrow..
...and I will document the bits of interest for those who may want to do the same.
Now having a beer and relaxing in the garden....

Finally the wheel alignment in correct on the 75th and man' Oh 'man what a difference it makes. New tyres all round and she drives really well now no longer "twitchy" like she was and no longer trying to dive for the N/S ditch at every oppertunity. The "lad" at the MOT place made an awful mess of setting up the alignment and vastly over tightened the lock nuts not wonder these get rounded off. I will taking this matter up with his bosss.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
No work on the F or TF as such, but I got a long awaited prep job finished … after just 6 months
In the winter, I had been given a lighting rig for free, which came out of a building I had to valuate. Since then, all the parts had been lying around in my shed, waiting to be reassembled, wired up and fixed to the ceiling (between 3 and 4 metres high). The actual assembly had been done earlier, working around the turbo parked in the middle of it.
Today I cleared all the parts from the floor to a newly set up shelf, drilled some hooks in the wooden beams and then hooked up the suspension wires. The ladder in the background didn’t even allow me to get to the ceiling, I had to use some long pliers to reach up there. Connected everything to the mains and then called out “let there be light!” Flicked the switch, no smoke, no fiery flashes from the cables and hey presto, I’ve got a proper workshop now!
A couple of bulbs are shot, but that’s an easy replacement. As they are halogen bulbs this will provide some kind of heating for those chilly winter spannering afternoons as well.

Oh, that was just the final tension, Gary. The fun was in the climbing, as I am genuinely scared of heights
