Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Replaced both rear top suspension ball joints. I have bought the special long socket and turned off the chamfer so it will go right over the hex head of the ball joint. Access isnt easy for the hammer spanner but I managed it using a universal joint. New ones back in with a liberal coating of copaslip just in case. Dont even think about doing this job or the front ones if you havent got the socket and an impact spanner. A hex socket is better than a 12 pointer. Make sure you buy the long one.

+1 to that mate. I feel that a hex socket ( 6 point ) is also necessary rather than just better. An expensive socket for just the one job, but the only alternative is to pay someone else.Reckless Rat wrote:Don't even think about doing this job or the front ones if you haven't got the socket and an impact spanner. Bought side stickers off eBay, thought these stickers would make a nice addition
They are 60x60mm, laser cut silver colour.
Edit: better pics later.

I used a small cold chisel and large hammer to drift it round.RobboMC wrote:+1 to that mate. I feel that a hex socket ( 6 point ) is also necessary rather than just better. Today I have refitted my modified and freshly painted fuel filter bracket after I removed the no longer required airfilter component.

Fitted Grenadine gaiters, handbrake is for MGF/TF, the gear gaiter is for a Mni which I had to cut down to size. Really pleased with the look.

Full service including new plugs, ignition packs and 8mm performance leads. Amazing how it has smoothed out the engine, now purring like a happy cat.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
I didn't see this thread, lol... I'm a few weeks behind.
Last few weeks I've...
Re-trimmed the door cards in red.
Repaired window rubber trim.
New Mats.
Fixed the fog light switch (thanks to the club).
Upgraded the wheels.
New stereo which plays movies and has bluettoth.
Hydragas suspension pumped up.
New oil & filter change, also air filter.
Next week:
Timing belt kit renewal.
Rust cut-out O/S sill and new piece fabricated.
Dent repaired in N/S sill.
Unless I wimp-out and sell her in the meantime...

Spent a second night trying to fit the nearside exhaust stud/bolt, given up and gone on ebay to buy a set of allan key studs.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Today I disconnected the volumetric sensor, due to it flipping out in the hot sun. I also polished and waxed it. The bodywork, not the sensor.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Refitted my SCU after getting it repaired at Remobilise - very quick and helpful. So I now have working horn and fog lights, and have replaced the heater resistors, so all four fan speeds work. Also took the centre console off and cleaned off with white spirit the remains of the original finish which had gone sticky, so now i have a nice black shiny console.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
I've been trying to adjust the hood clamps.
It's not the adjuster, it closes well, but it seems the clamps don't fit in the hooks very well, like they are too far out. If that makes sense.

I tend to hook one side and then the other before closing both.Barbour wrote:I've been trying to adjust the hood clamps.

Same here, but it just seems like the fit isn't too great, like the clamps are too far in.talkingcars wrote:I tend to hook one side and then the other before closing both.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
As we all know there isn't much space for small stuff in the MG-F.
So, I bought these, they go between the seats and the centre console, ideal for maps, phones and other small stuff.
A nice alternative for the missing door card storage compartment.

Look good. How do you fit them and where did you buy them from, please?
