I have given thought to the purchase of another key fob (3TXB flavour)!
1965 Volvo 'Amazon', TR7 powered Triumph Toledo, Triumph 1500 FWD and a modern 1.6 Beetle. My name is Ken and I am a caraholic. There is no cure. Thankfully!

Fitted new stainless fixing screws to the hood catches, and sun visors, replaced the under bonnet light for one that works and doesn't hang down, fitted the polished ali trims around the seat belt slot. Cleaned polished and vacuumed.
Cheers

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Real productive day today, very pleased with my little self.
Made up the two rear brakes pipes and fitted.
Waxoyled lots of places internal and external.
Put the front end back together and got superb panel gaps after lots of fiddling.
Finally, I released the front wheelarch liners and couldn't believe the mud behind them, threatening to rot the sill and a post away. Scraped and hosed out, ready for treatment tomorrow, hopefully.
Now home, eaten a big bowl of Corned beef hash with pickled red cabbage and waiting for the water to warm up for a well deserved bath.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Day 13 of two weeks off from work and finally it isn't raining. Changed the alternator belt which took far longer than it should have, and was going to do a Waxoyl application but short on time now. Auto windscreen 'phoned to lo let me know the waiting is over for the new screen, so fitting scheduled for Sunday.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
As I was having to shoe horn Ann's new Fiat 500 Softop into the garage as well as the MGF and her Classic 1969 Sunbeam Stiletto, it was time for a clear out. The winter wheels (for the MGF and Astra) were destined for the Secure Steel Shed however as the sun was shining they were fitted. A job that was due next week when the clocks go back
The 155/85 - 15 Maragonis went on but not before a practice fitting of the Snow chains.
The screen washer fluid reservoir was full so the nice MOT man must have filled it with summer wash. The turkey baster was used to empty it and replaced with Minus 20 Deg C. fluid .

If the news is anything to go by it all starts in November, my view is we get what we get and this weekend we will be getting lots.idrawcad wrote:Are you expecting a hardd winter Geoff?
Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
We have had an annual run to the Swiss Alps each winter since retiring 12 years ago after 4 years living in Basel.idrawcad wrote:Are you expecting a hardd winter Geoff?
Our 1.8 Astra carried our Ski gear until 2010 when we took the "F" on the Register Geneve Run which required it to be suitably fitted out to go onto Interlaken off the Autobahn via Gstaad. These days we no longer ski so we can take the "F"
The car was serviced before the 2010 Run. Joining the Autobahn north of Interlaken enroute to Reims, the snow was melted with a heavy spray but we had no screen wash. It was frozen. It was terrifying. Kettles of Hot Water were used to thaw it out in the Reims hotel car park. On our return they said they had put in water and washing up fluid - ideal for a summer track day. There was a full 5 Litres of -20 sitting on top off the reservoir.
I first had winter tyres on my Austin 1100 in Jugoslavija in 1968 when they were knobblies with stellite studs that came out like bullets when the tyres got hot above 60 MPH. We have used them ever since however today modern rubber compounds and tread pattern allow no speed restrictions.
In the UK, the MG will stay in the garage and the Astra used. Nobody else will have the right tyres. (except Colin !!)

Lunchtime blat around the lanes and off to do the shopping... slightly inclement here so top up. Lots more squeeks and groans with the top up...
Do not invert, contents liable to spill.
