Nothing as usual(x3), except drive it with much pleasure(x1).
Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Filled, rubbed down & sprayed small dent & scrape on back bumper.
As usual preparation determines the end result, but I was pleased that it blended in well.

Finished buffing up my throttle body and refilled the F with fuel as Mrs Bmth has taken a shine to using it for her daily drive and cos its my car i have to fill it with petrol. The complex workings of a womans mind, I'll never understand....

Refueling comes under the category of maintenance which is the man-ones role

I bought my mgf to be my weekend car and if its raining too hard to motorbike to work car,we had down sized our fleet to one car but i gave up on the everyday car (v8 grandcherokee) other half uses as it got to the stage where I would fill it up on a Sunday and by Tuesday after she had run everybody about it was empty, iv given up, now leave it for her to fillup as I rarely use it, if she wants to keep the big beast she has to pay for it. anyway iv fabsil my roof and it looks great for a 13 year old soft top.Martin_Bmth wrote:Finished buffing up my throttle body and refilled the F with fuel as Mrs Bmth has taken a shine to using it for her daily drive and cos its my car i have to fill it with petrol. Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Sorted out the bodged lower alternator mount fitted after the alternator rattled itself free at Donington last week. Thanks to Tony, the correct bolt and spacer has now been fitted (with fresh locktite). I also had a look at the slight weep from one of the new brake pipe unions, nipped it up a bit and topped up the brake reservoir.
Now need some more testing miles before considering fitting a smaller brake servo

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Today I changed the suspension sphere on the near side front and the value which took me longer than changing the sphere.
The job was easy except I couldn't move the valve so had to take the pipe off and apply heat. on refitting I had to replace to fluid,
I bought a grease gun type pump which was a waste of money after 1 hour off pumping i'd lifted the car 10mm, so took it to a local garage and he pumped it up for £20. I had it done 20mm more than the recommended height as we live in a speed bump heaven.
Then I took it and had 4 new tyres fitted couldn't get eagle f1's so ended up with budget tyres but they have the same speed and grip ratings, but time will tell.
More to come tomorrow

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
The grease gun type pumps are probably fine for minor adjustments of ride height, but filling it from "dry" would be a lot of work.
For long-term owners, it may be worth the investment in the proper liquid levers pumps - which crop up for sale second hand from time to time. For me, building Project Shed, it's been invaluable!

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Yesterday - I replaced the four heating blower resistors - In the garage, with limited door open space as it was raining - Probably best not to post the photos of the position I ended up in on the forum...
Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Well today I was going to put a new rad on and some helicoils for the rocker cover.
Went out to the car thought id check the oil (don't know why I only changed it last week) withdraw the dipstick and there it was, coffee coloured sludge.
Locked the car back up and went for a blast on my bike.

How much? A few speckles = condensation and no problem. Litres of the stuff = head gasket failure Not a welcome sight!

Trapped finger dismantling subframe. Throbbed so much needed to stick a red hot paperclip through the nail.
Blood under such pressure it shot across the kitchen, incurring with displeasure of the ball and chain. F-hurt but ohh the relief......

The dipstick was coated in it.
Water doesn't seem to be going down though. Got me wondering now.

Last night, instead of watching the England / Poland football match, I replaced all the non-structural M6 OEM bolts under the bonnet with shiny Zinc Plated Socket head bolts & larger washers.

Re: what have you done on your mgf today?
Bought a roof for my tf, mine is ok apart from the rear screen being totally knackered and this roof being totally great and costing me less than a repair. Good times, also have agreed to some wheels too so shall be getting this the end of the month. Is it wrong for a grown man to be excited about new toys for your car?
I hope not
