07 plate.... where's that been then...£7k... is that too much, or well priced for a stunning car.

Well, the vin tells me factory data has it as IAH Black Olive new to MG Sport & Racing.

Did it have a new vin plate fitted showing it as Aurora, was it never Black Olive and the data is wrongly inputted ?

Whatever, it's a great looking car with history if you're interested.

I just spotted it on Autotrader too. And it's not the 07 160 I nearly bought new either as that had the cream interior so there must be at least 1 more making 4.

Mine is going in for resto next week so I'll rub down one of the original wings that will be discarded to see if I can find any trace of Starlight Silver just to be absolutely sure. Apparently the base coat for Aurora is matt black according to the paint supplier.

I really don’t like to be a killjoy, but I smell something fishy about this one. First thing that actually got my eye is the position of the “TF” letters on the rear end. If it were one of the last ones, shouldn’t these sit in the middle rather than below the left rear light cluster? Next are the heater knobs, which clearly are from a 2002-2004 model, not a 2005 one. The hood seems to be a one piece BAS sportster hood, the late MGR ones with the factory fitted glass rear window still had the overlap to the left and right of the window, albeit without the velcro.

Stunning looking example, though!

The Auto trader Aurora was apparently built in May 04 so not one of the later MY05 ones.
My Aurora 160 is the MY05 one with the uprated suspension, glass rear screen etc. Mine also had the TF badge under the left cluster (now removed) & it has the 160 badge & flags on the front wing.

Ah, I see. Thought from the ad it was one of the last ones. Still leaves me with the question, why a summer only car with just 26,000 miles should need a new soft top …

The details on the add suggest the car is located on the Black Isle, north Scotland, so given the price and the travel distance for many who might be interested, I can't see it selling very quickly. Given questions about it's history I wouldn't have thought a buyer will go for it without first looking at it.

It is a 2004 car and it was found in SMC stock by the current seller who's had it from new. Apparently it had been with them for a couple of years

Why MG Sport & Racing never registered it is a mystery but the seller is going to look at the colour on the body plate for me to see if it's reddish or black.

Well BN54 OET has gone off for the start of its restoration. It hadn't been resprayed before but I won't be able to say that soon. It's getting new front wings and the bonnet & both bumpers repainted. I'm bricking it that it won't match as the paint alone was £1000.
But it needs doing so fingers crossed it will be a good job then I can save up for the rear arches to get done.
Also fitting comfort suspension
Hoops and wind breaker
New mesh grilles, badges, chrome rails to rear shelf, fuel filler surround still required
Walnut interior trim and steering wheel.
And maintenance parts = front wishbones, n/s central locking motor and o/s window lift motor.
All in time for the Highlander a fortnight on Friday. (I hope!)

Good luck with the paintwork Alan, hope it turns out great for you.
I dearnt even get mine out of the garage at the moment. My Jag & my sons Civic S type along with about 6 other cars in the area have all suffered vandal damage. Full length scratches down to the metal in places. Im gutted as it is, I would be almost suicidal if it was my Aurora.

That would be my worst nightmare, I even hate car parks in case someone dings my door or scuffs my bumper but with this car's fancy paint I'll need to avoid them altogether!

Our house is opposite a school. In the last year, the passenger door has picked up no less than 6 dents - I am sure this is from the little darlings opening the door of the mummy wagon without care or attention when the mummy or daddy drops them off, double parked. Grrr!

It'll now be easier just to get a replacement door, but I am loathe to do this if the replacement is instantly similarly damaged...? :(

My Aurora 160 has now had its new wings and paintwork done so now I'm itching to see it. I cant collect until Thursday morning so hoping the fabulous weather holds out. I've been really anxious about the paint match but the paintshop tell me it came out great (I guess they would!).
It's only two sleeps I suppose.
