As soon as it stops raining get some wax on the paint. Then the water will just sheet off.

Ash
I may get some light protectors but they are a bit down the list.
Got Jon Norris coming to do the Cambelt service, that was priority really.
Called in at Mike Saturs on Friday, hes making me some gaiters & handbrake lever.
Then its either music for inside (Alpine? head unit, new speakers & sound deadening) or music for outside (Daytona exhaust)

As for wax, well its now been Clayed, then Megs Ultimate compound & Megs Ultimate polish by machine, then Megs NXT wax & finally Sonax Xtreme detailer, the best thing Ive found for water beading. Oh & Autoglym fabric roof cleaning kit.

Music for the outside any day. On a nice day with the hood down I listen to the Daytona Symphony, you will need nothing else (one down side though, it doesn't give traffic information so I keep the radio for that and the Parrot kit for the phone).

Eh...there is more than 1 TF160 Aurora.
There's one in Scotland on a 54 plate.
It's been with one of our MGFreedom members for many years.

I seem to remember a picture surfaced of a second Aurora when Stuart first got his but nobody could pin it down and doubt then was then cast on it's existance.

Alan is there any chance you could get the vin details of this other car ?? please ... Adrian's extensive records of all monograms show that Stuart's Aurora is the only one yet they're may be more .My Poseidon TF is mean't to be the only one made but Karl's Typhoon is nigh on identical to mine in colour but his is registered as a Typhoon ??
Adding to the equation all these mysterious silver cars being " factory resprays" it seems the MG records are very flawed ???

In the summer of 05 when there were deals to be had I was in discussions with a dealership down south (I'm tempted to say SMC High Wycombe) to buy a 160 in Aurora with cream leather interior that was in their showroom. I walked away as they wanted more for it than I was willing to pay. I'd ordered a Bacchus monogram 160 with similar spec new from the factory a year earlier which cost less!
However a few years later one turned up on one of our runs. The owner being a well known member of the MG community up here for at least 30 years. He'd bought it in central Scotland and it had been bought originally through Rover Direct at longbridge by the previous owner.
I've now agreed to purchase it so I'll get the vin number which will be interesting.

EDIT/update.
It was June 07 not 05. The dealer was SMC High Wycombe, the car was an Aurora 160 with black leather, delivery miles on an 07 plate. So neither this O5 or the 54 I'm buying.
I wonder where this one is?

Please PM it to me Alan and the body & engine numbers if you can. I'm sure it will be a re-spray, albeit from new maybe ?

As many are aware factory data is dreadfully wrong in places but the vin plate (paint and trim codes) will tell the truth. The vin number will tell me what it left the factory as and I can compare the two sets of details.

I've got more info based on your suggestion.
Apparently it has a paint code of MBB which he thinks is starlight silver but the car was never painted that colour as it was changed during production.
I'll email the vin now I have it

Thanks Alan, MBB Starlight Silver as you say, not Aurora as the factory records say, however, it is registered as a red car :o

There are pics of the car being collected from Q gate showroom at longbridge in June 05 by the 1st owner (other than MGR). It is in its current exterior/interior colourway (Aurora - tan alpaca).
I wonder where it was between being built in December 03 and 1st registration on 01/09/04
Assuming the story of it being used by a family member of senior management is correct then that must have ended in it being handed back to the administrators in Spring 2005 to be sold alongside other MGR group owned vehicles. It must have already been Aurora at that point as they wouldn't have changed it under administration just to sell off.

Alan, Just in case you haven't seen this here is a link to another recent TF 'paint special' that was painted in a TVR colour after originally being silver. However like your car there is a gap between the build date and registration so in that sense that is not unusual or unique.

Got it.
Collected it yesterday (from previous owner 1/2 mile away). Now appraising what needs doing to it.
New central locking motor passenger side, new window motor drivers side, two new front wings, VHS suspension kit, glass rear screen, new front n/s lower wishbone, LE500 bumper and some chrome bits for the outside and maybe walnut interior to go with cream leather.

I think the fun question is "what makes a monogram"? :)

Personally, data could be wrong anywhere..... And is it common knowledge that pre-painted silver cars were often used as a base for the monogram colours at the factory.

If it was first sold as a mono colour, that makes it a true monogram to me, regardless of whether a record in a particular place states Silver.

The plot certainly thickens, I've just heard from Alistair, the seller, guess what it's Aurora !!

But, now it gets interesting, the paint code is IAX which is Aurora, it's not a Starlight Silver start.

I'll know more when I get the vin number.

I don't know who was responsible for entering the factory data but I hope he doesn't have anything to do with the National Lottery.

Just today I received data on a lovely TF in Sweden which was new there in 2005 but factory data says it went to Greece !

Don't you love statistics
