Post by robbie1003 » Mon Sep 29, 2014 10:48 am

Went online lastnight to tax the jeep for ourlass, yes you now get less for your money yet again but I thought this new system was going to give a option of paying monthly,it appears not to be the case.

The option to pay by monthly direct debit will be available from 1st October 2014 for those people needing to tax there cars from 1st November 2014.
Its worth noting that even when this becomes available you will still have to choose between taxing your car for 6 or 12 months, there wont be an option for taxing it a month at a time.
If you require less then 6 months tax, you will have to tax it for 6 months and then declare it SORN when needed, so no change to the system there.
There is also an additional cost for paying by direct debit.
Buying 12 months tax in one go will still be the cheapest option, followed by 2 X 6 months tax, and direct debits being the most expensive.

I understand that there will be a 5% surcharge for paying by DD, the current surcharge for paying every six months is currently 10%.

In this day and age it should be monthly with no premium added for it.

More choice than what you get with the TV licence tax.

If you pay your fuel bills by monthly direct debit you expect to pay less not more.

It's pure incompetence and greed on their part.
