An amazing find but is it allowed ?

Post by adrianclifford » Sun Nov 09, 2014 8:22 pm

Have you ever found something in or on your car you didn't know you had ?. I've had Pearl over six years by the way !

It happened today. Cleaning Pearl ready for the Classic car Show at the NEC on Thursday, I decided, now that I don't need to show my tax disc I would remove the tax disc holder. It was a decision as it's the original one from new and I like to keep the original things where I can. OK I says, I'll put it in the folder along with the rest of the stuff I have.

For some reason I took all of the old ones out and looked at them, whoa, I couldn't believe it, they were all there including the very first 2004 disc, blue with a gold outline.

I replaced the holder in the same place being careful to align the sticky edge left there and popped in the 2004 disc. Does anybody know if this is allowed ?

I'm positive it isn't illegal as you aren't trying to defraud the government.
Haven't found any legal info online but did find this interesting link.

I think so as there is an advert in this months Safety Fast on page 14 advertising a company
that for a small fee can reproduce your first tax disc to display on your "classic car"!
Now that you do not have to legally display a disc, you should be ok i would of thought.Im still displaying an expired disc from September on my Saab!

Can;t see it being illegal as one doesn't have to desplay a disc now.
I suppose one could argue that it's obscuring your vision but I doubt it would stand up in court.

I was going to make the same comment!

I think I have all the tax discs for my car bar one that has mysteriously disappeared... I might make a colour photocopy and display that and keep the original somewhere safe for prosperity :)

This is another idea for your tax disc holder, if you are inclined that way!

In a similar vein, perhaps an MGF Register badge can be made to fit our disc holders?
