Stupid questions
Hi I introduced myself the other day,
have gone for it and decided to get the British racing green mk1 and will be getting it in a few weeks when the clutch, breaks and other bits have been done.
But it has a new hood with glass window, I noticed the window in valcroed in, does any one know if you need to lay the window flat before you fold the hood down or can you fold it down with the glass in place?
Probably a daft question but there you go.
Thanks, Matt

Re: Stupid questions
Hi Matt, there is no need to unzip the screen and lay it flat (as you would with a plastic screen), you should be able to lower the hood with the glass screen in place.

Re: Stupid questions
The only stupid question is the one you don't ask.
Some glass screens are fixed so can't be layed flat.
If you are only folding for a short period (i.e. not overnight) and you make sure the plastic screen isn't creased when you fold the hood you don't need to unzip it.

Re: Stupid questions
Ok thanks.
This one can defiantly be laid flat as I unfastened it when I went to look at it.
This will be the first f I've had so it's a bit new to me, looking forward to getting it though, just didn't want to damage it first time I dropped the roof.

Re: Stupid questions
I think with any screen if it's for an extended period unzip but for glass not really needed.
Plastic you take your chances, warmer weather less chance of the screen cracking

Re: Stupid questions
Warmer weather certainly does reduce chance of cracking a plastuc screen. However do not be fooled by what appears to be a warm winters day. I did and lesson learnt! New screen required as i cracked it in two places. Pleased to say screen replaced but won't ever fold without unzipping it again!!

Re: Stupid questions
I got caught last weekend when putting the hood down for a sunny Sunday run.
Thought I had warmed the inside and the rear screen enough and tried lowering the hood (Carefully) with the plastic window zipped up as it had been all summer with no problems.
One loud bang and one very large top to bottom crack. In my defence the zip has always been a bit difficult but being lazy has now cost me £s.
I was thinking of fitting a glass rear window later in the year anyway !!.
New glass screen arrived yesterday and the instructions look clear enough apart from the how you "break" and reattach the zip but a job for the weekend.

Re: Stupid questions
Hi all
The only trouble with a glass screen is if you unzip it, it is a bugger to zip it back in again because of the weight of it. So don't unzip

Re: Stupid questions
I've folded before on frosty mornings without unzipping, just start to fold, check for creases and finish folding very slowly.

Re: Stupid questions
Knowing my luck, I could split the plastic by slamming the door.
