Another thought. You need to look at requested cam period as well as measured.
If the ECU is only requesting 215 and it is getting 215 then maybe the problem isn't with the VVC mech. If it is requesting 235 but only getting 215 then there is a problem there either mech or sensor.

Yes need to check requested vs measured to see if the mech can give what the ecu wants.

I did read that the ecu will try and force a min value when in an error state so hopefully that is what it's doing with having no map sensor input.

I will have a look at the requested value tomorrow.

Just checked my requested cam period and its 225
tried my spare cam sensor and it still reads 215

Also had vvc drive error pop up

Will try again with a new map sensor but it doesn't look promising !

On it with the grinder today, more came out than I was planning but the TF frame looks very close, no going back now!

It will certainly need a trim! subframe is going back more yet though.

Wouldn't a F subframe be better than a TF one?

Not any more! It will have tf rear suspension on the front.

Will probably convert the rear to coilovers too down the line.

Looks as though the suspension towers align nicely with the position of the hydragas spheres in that position though? Won't moving the subframe backwards mean that the wheels won't sit square in the wheel arch?

I wonder whether shortening the subframe might be a better option?

With the Tf towers in the hydragas rings the back of the subframe sits flush with the protruding part of the firewall. Looks like it fits great be from the above pics but the wheels sit about an inch and a half further forward than centre of the arch, also as you can see the front sticks out too far!

Its a bit of a shame as the frame looks so good in that position, but as moving it further back fixes more than one issue I think it will be the only answer.

Have thought about cutting the front on the frame off and putting a tube across, with the manifold needing to clear it that would be a lot of work for only about an inch gain.

Will have to see what the front looks like once the frame is back far enough for the wheels to be centre - half an inch shouldn't matter as it has pretty big arches.

Well now the hydragas rings have gone, they were only spot welded in, - well one side was - the other was spot welded around only half of it!

The subframe now fits at the back - its all been chopped and the rack mounts will have to be remade.

The front of the frame won't go into the front panel as it doesn't come down far enough, these metros and mgfs, are pretty low at the front compared to the 70s Allegro. The front of the subframe will sit below it - the standard Allegro has a chin cover over where the front tie rods bolt through, mine will probably end up with a larger one from a mk1 golf or something like that.

Just got the front subframe to work out now and more cutting of the inner wings for the engine mounts.

That bit of pressed steel where the vents and heater controllers were is going (the lower part). Dash probably won't be going back either.
My plan is that the front bar for the roll cage will replace it and the column will mount to that. Thinking an ally center console is in order with a redtop battery mounted behind it, will make a battery cut off easy to wire up.
