You're top mounts are solid? In that case, the torque reaction will be shared among all three mounts. Besides, if it fails, you know you've gone too far!

I haven't been brave enough to remove the door braces - but my 'cage does have the side impact protection bars. But even hardened racers have said to keep them in place, which is largely why they're still there... But I do have plans to remove nearly all the inner door skin, and potentially drill holes in the outer frame. Which may well mean that the impact bars won't do their job anyway???

I don't anyone who has left the door bars in when you have a full roll cage.

Like you say - that's a fair bit of weight saved...

Door bars out and weighed. This might change your mind Rob - 7.75kg.

Oh wow!!! Seriously? Okay then... here we go! I'll have a look, but I think the MGF doors only have the one bar - the second one was added for the TF for its good Euro NCAP score IIRC. :)

Could be, the top one was effectively bolt in and by far the heavier. The lower oval one was about 1.6kg

Moving the brake inlet ducts? That modification will have quite a positive impact upon vehicle drag :thumbsu:

Use your current bumper to make a mould?

Wasn't happy with my first headlight blank, so now using a mk2 method. Happier with the result and 1 piece grp rather than ally and grp.

Well the I'm 2 & 3 headlight blanks are done. I perfected the process with the drivers one, using cling film and masking tape. The drivers one needs the filler sanding down, the will paint both to match the car.

The finish is good enough for racing, but would require a lot of work to make a mould from it. Then there is the cost...

I'm looking into getting MGF head lamp lenses made in vacuumed-formed plastic, which will save a fair bit of weight and keeping the functionality of the headlamps for a road-going car. But there's a cost to this - likely to be 100s of quid, not the few £££s required to make a fibre glass lens cover...

It's all about "how far to go" I guess...

Head light blanks finished and added a 'louver' to the bonnet/rad can't to improve airflow and painted it to match the bonnet. Also moved the oil cooler.
