Having a few problems with high idle I need to chase down, starts out idling correctly at the 1k the ecu is currently set to, but soon shoots up to 1800/2k.It's going into Chris as Retro Sports Cars, to get a 285h solid cam conversion and KMaps map on it at the end of October.

An air leak may be? But brilliant that it is running once again :)

Are you planning to take it to a rolling road soon?

It's the AICV, I bolloxed two of the of the mounting holes by overtightening them. New (old) one incoming from the bay, will use neoprene between the nylon block and the AICV, when I refit as well.

New exhaust system built, now race legal with a catalytic converter and another bloody hole has appeared in the back of the race car.

'Gates' fitted to the rear to keep the air on top of the boot and not falling off the sides. 300mm disc conversion done to allow fitment of Abingdon wheels - which I think are the best looking factory wheel for the F/TF.
Just need to order some more spacers for the caliper now I know what I need and longer bolts for the caliper bracket to hub carrier mounting.

Rob, with the discs I've used, I don't need to run spacers to allow the Abingdons to clear the calipers. But they're 22mm not 24mm.

Looks like I needed to do some catch-up on this thread.
Impressive, no-nonse build and good to see it is still happening.
Funny thing is, I already learned something about my cup car too (the inner wheel arches cut away)

Don't suppose you have some pics? I'm also looking at bigger droop stops as well and would like to see how the cup cars did it.

So car is now back from Chris at Retro Sports Cars fitting the Piper Cams 285h solid cam kit, next outlay will be a trip to Milton Keynes for Mark Stacey to work his magic.
I asked Rob Bell if he had any research on velocity stack length and he pointed me at work done by Steve Butts over on SELOC. So after much reading I have opted initially for unequal length pairs. If this were a set of Jenveys the lengths would be 107mm and 157mm, which came with the bodies. The previous owner who ran them on a 230bhp 1.9 block did a lot of experimenting for his rally ZR and came out with the 107mm (60mm on these bodies) as the best HP figure...but rallying is not quite the same as racing, so want some mid range, hence the longer trumpets for mid range torque/power.
And who can argue with Dave Andrews advice.

Angry wheel brought out today, cut the vent into the O/S wing. Looking at it, I've just order a pair of arch liners to make it more effective.
CAD used to make templates for the top and bottom, made from ally.

Great work with the ITBs - will be really interesting to get the car onto the rolling road! :D

The vent in the front wings look very good - I have thought about doing something similar - and by far this is the easiest way to get air out of the wheel arch area.

There is a wing support where the vent area transits to the outer body of the car - have you cut this off for now, or re-shaped/shortened it?

Didn't need to, just removed the bolt and left in situ, as well as the rear of the 2 bottom ones. After some reflection, I also ended up drill in a hole in the lower fillet for the front bolt, which will be filled with a blanking grommet.

Arch liners arrived today, I've cut them out and made the last little bit of metal work to finish the arch vent. But before I paint it LQW and bond it in, I had a flash of inspiration about painting the vent recess green like the stripe and the rear intake scoop.
What are your thoughts

looks good - not sure on the green v body colour debate... I think body colour as "less is more" and all that?

Sorry Rob, to late. But I have an idea for extending the green in to the door. Liner needs a little final fettling and I need to see about getting some different trim fasteners or might try taking the hole out to 7mm.

Devised a way to limit the suspension droop on the rear.

Some more CAD today, powered by Amazon. Louvres to direct the air flow for the arch vent.
