Weller Formula Ford on an F?

Post by wildcat45 » Sun May 15, 2016 6:43 am

I know very little about wheels but I've a hankering after some steel wheels on my F.

I quite like the retro looks it could create. I'm imagining something like a TR6 wheel.

Weller appear to do steel wheels. Would some fit in the F with its BLMC heritage bolt arrangement?

I'm thinking 15 inch wheels would be best.

Any thoughts?

You could just use 4 space savers with proper tyres they would be fine, there is a Trials car that uses them.

Correct, with 175/64x14 tyres, I don't know how it would handle with four of those all round though.

In Europe I know a few cars that use those in conjunction with winter tyres rather than fit a set of winter's to their alloys, no fitting costs and it keeps your alloys out of the salt.

Maybe Mykel or Steffi would know ?

Wellers could work really nicely. You'll need a Triumph 4-stud wheel pattern - PCD 95.25mm and centre bore 56.6mm with a positive offset of around 30-35mm. :)

Cheers for that. I thought MGF wheels were the same fitting as older BL cars like Triumphs.

Psst Rob: 3 3/4inches.

Wildcat, the PCD is the same as the Small Chassis Triumphs, ie Herald, Vitesse, Sptfire, GT6 as well as the small saloons such as the 1300FWD, 1500RWD, Toledo and Dolomite, and the TR7/8.

Earlier TRs and the Large Saloons have 4 inch PCD.

You'll need something like the Roadsport model then?

I *think* they'll manufacture to the PCD and centre bore you request. At least the offset on these rims is correct (30mm). :)

The 15x7 Pro Race 1.2's I just got are ET25, don't forget that going up a rim width with the same pcd will move the wheel further in and maybe foul the suspension and having checked the vvc wheels the offset is 28. http://www.willtheyfit.com/
