Changing colour... Help needed!!
Well today I have been hit by another car in the rear end... the damage is not substancial but I will need a new bumper, crash cans and maybe a new exhaust...
But because my paint has seen better days I am thinking of having a colour change (The idea was in my mind before the accident...)
But now I have plenty of doubts regarding wich colour I should choose if I go ahead...
1.Solar Red
2.Sunspot Yellow
3.Sunspot Yellow & Black Hood
4.Aurora Red
5.Black Darkish Monogram? (Black Olive or Nightshade)
6.Keep Pearl Black
7.Royal Blue
This are the options I am contemplating...
I want something OEM MG, so no other manufacturer colours will be considered.
My car looks like this at the moment...

Sorry to hear of the car being damaged...Old English White with a red interior always looks stunning...only ever seen one TF in that creamy white. Personally though, I'd keep it Pearl Black- the car looks great as it is

'02 TF 160 - an Original MG Rover Group Press Car...and still lookin' sharp!
Bilstein Shocks, Z&F Remap, B&G Coolant Alarm, Glass Rear Screen, Braided Hoses, Bling-free at the moment...but that'll probably change

Women are clever...
My better half just given me the perfect idea
She said:
You have a spare engine (Allan's)...
This car is nice as is, repair and save the money for a Solar red TF and fit the new engine... then sell this one....

The trouble with changing body colour is it has to go with your interior unless that is to change too.
Not sure that lovely interior would go with a yellow of any variety?

That is what I think... Yellow on red doesn't look too good..Keith Williams wrote:The trouble with changing body colour is it has to go with your interior unless that is to change too.

So I think I will just repair and repaint the damaged panels in PBT

Yes, that'd be what I'd do. And follow your very wise wife's words... buy a red TF and fit Alan's engine

Sorry to hear about your knock. My TF had rear damage similar to yours - the car was written off despite the lack of damage. I replaced the bumper, crash cans, exhaust back box, flexi pipe and ignored the dented outer boot skin. The subframes weren't affected so make sure yours aren't before you consider any repairs.

Thankfully here in Spain the TF is valued higher than in UK so the write off would be really overkill if they are willing to pay me circa 5000 Euros for the damage it has I'd be more than happy!!
Don't suspect that the subframe is affected as it has only a minor scratch and a bended tow point also the crash cans and the bumper are bended the hit was at lower than 15Km/h...ç
More like parking damage than a real big hit...
But I will check them just in case!

Of course i would, but i prefer Rio Red to Solar Red. Deeper colour and reminiscent of Tartan Red, very popular colour on older MG's

My towing eye was also bent and it was that that gave me the most concern - the towing eye is mounted to a body member under the boot floor, at the other end of which is a rear subframe mounting. Bearing it mind that the towing eyes and their mountings are beefy enough to pull the car by, any impact that bends it must be substantial and give potential for the transmission of impact forces towards the subframe mounting. It was the sole reason why I nearly didn't buy my car back.

Correct me if I am wrong but aren't they tie down points for when on a transporter so as such are not strong enough to tow with.

Well not sure about that, I looked underneath and everything seems OK, also it drives correctly without any strange noise or vibration... will see once the bumper is removedLeRich wrote:7Sergi Bmw wrote:LeRich wrote: Don't suspect that the subframe is affected as it has only a minor scratch and a bended tow point also the crash cans and the bumper are bended the hit was at lower than 15Km/h

Red is the way to go.... always loved them.. Although I don't know if it would look good with grenadine interior & hoodMrNatural wrote:Of course i would, but i prefer Rio Red to Solar Red. Deeper colour and reminiscent of Tartan Red, very popular colour on older MG's

I think the two shades would clash Sergi. Best start with another car. The black one is already a beauty, and looks stunning with the grenadine interior.
