Poor quality exhaust front pipe and customer service.

Post by Plezier » Tue Oct 04, 2016 8:21 pm

For any members who would be considering buying a 4 bolt front pipe from the ebay vendor yesparts

eBay item number:131646996990

................................ be aware not only are the pipes very cheaply made and they are more than likely to fracture at the flexi part but the customer service is dreadful. I returned a broken front pipe to them September 10th and today have had to once again chase them for a refund and still getting the run around.

So be please be aware. Will now have to try and get ebay and paypal involved.

Mykel the one from the motor factors was only £37 and that is a Klarius one.

When I first worked for Kwik-Fit back when Tom Farmer owned it a complete exhaust for a Mk3 Cortina was £19.95 fitted with 2 year warranty. The front pipes on those cost pennies to make and Kwik-Fit paid about £1 for the front pipe. Back then it was Timax and Bosal that were the mkers. If you wanted just a rear box fitted that was £24.95 ........................ the reason being it was faster to simply cut off the old system and fit new than change the rear box.

Surely the main point is being missed here if an item is sold it should be fit for purpose. If it isn't you should expect a replacement or refund without having to waste your time chasing it. I'd be involving Ebay as its a shame the majority of traders are decent, shame to let poor traders get away with poor service.

I didn't say anything about quality, I merely pointed out that you can not compare the price of anything today to what it was many many years ago.

Earlier you mentioned working for Kwik-fit when Tom Farmer owned it which could have been any period between 1971 and 1999.

In your first post you were complaining that a part that cost you £33 delivered was of poor quality, the recommended price from MG-Rover is £164.

I do accept that the cheap part should still work for a reasonable period but it will never be of the same quality as a genuine part.

Agreed, buy cheap buy twice is the old addage, always but stuff like that from a motor factors, that way you can inspect before purchase. Buyer beware !!

Thank you for taking the time to give us a heads up about this vendor. Seems consistent with a lot of products on that site.
