MGF Trophy rebuild
Got myself a black Trophy early on this year and decided the best way to get it how I would like it is to have it stripped down to body shell, repaint and rebuild with new and reconditioned parts. Once complete it will last me through retirement and for as long as I will be able to drive.
The work was started a couple of weeks ago and should be complete by May 2017

Sounds like a great plan, who's doing the paintwork?

Re: MGF Trophy rebuild
Hi Mike,
Yet to be decided, I will, let you know. Everything has been stripped off now, many parts including subframes have been powder coated and spheres have gone to be rebuilt. Can't wait for the finished item.

Subframes powder coated, spheres refurbished and rebuild commences... All new nuts, bolts and ancillaries where available.

Re: MGF Trophy rebuild
Are you going to fit nitrogen recharge valves to the spheres?

Yes indeed, already doneCharless wrote:Are you going to fit nitrogen recharge valves to the spheres?
With great help from Andy and Stefan at Prestige MG, no problems have been encountered so far concerning removal and refurb of the subframes and preparation of the underneath of the car.
I will be having just about every part underneath replaced, though some we can keep as they are in excellent condition. Matt at MG Obsession has been brilliant for most of the new/reconditioned parts.
We did have a discussion about using the Australian suspension kit which replaces the spheres, but decided to have the originals recharged with fresh nitrogen and get them back to proper specification.
The plan is, as far as possible, to have new suspension, new braking system, 4-2-1 manifold with Daytona exhaust, new carpets, new seats to my design, and various new bits of interior.

Re: MGF Trophy rebuild
Fantastic - polybushes and correct nitrogen pressure - transform the ride back to new or maybe even better!

Re: MGF Trophy rebuild
Polybushes will give a firmer than O/E ride, for O/E you need O/E spec rubber bushes.
