EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads
Well, this is going to be interesting: I've decided to bury my healthy scepticism of EBC pads and have just bought a car set of EBC Yellow Stuff pads for Project Shed.
The Shed has been using standard road pads up until now, and if I am honest, I really wanted to fit a set of Mintex 1166s. But for some reason, Mintex pads now cost an arm and a leg. The EBC equivalents cost what I was paying for the Mintex 1177s 15 years ago.
It will be very interesting to see how I get on with these. I also have a variable rear brake limiter valve, but suspect that I need no limiter at all: the race prepared Trophy cars had them removed completely!
So, rear brake limiter removed first, then I'll try the pads. Should make for some interesting drives in Project Shed!

Re: EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads
Oh, so we have a record of this somewhere, here are some useful part numbers for the brake pads for standard (240mm rotor) front and rear pads -
Mintex:
Front: MDB1419
Rear: MDB1673
EBC:
Front: DP4817R (but also found DP4143R- not sure which is correct, but Demon Tweeks specified DP4817R)
Rear: DP4662/2R

Re: EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads
I've been using yellow stuff for several years on both my previous and current ZSs, I can brake later and harder than with O/E spec.
Home to black Alfa 159 3.2 V6 Q4, blue MGZR160, green MGF VVC and grey MGF 1.8i, and red MG Maestro T16.

Re: EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads
The pads will hopefully arrive in the next day or two. Not sure whether I'll have time to fit them and get them bedded in time for the Rushmore sprint at the weekend?
I've also removed the rear brake limiter valve: braking much better balanced now and felt fantastic at Goodwood on Saturday

Re: EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads
I've been running yellow stuff on the Trophy for the last couple of years, now switching to Red Stuff. The Yellow Stuff generates a lot of dust, but as stated brake really well without much heat in them.

Red or orange stuff? Encouraging to hear that they brake well from cold - which is what you need on a hill climb or sprint.
Will be interesting to find out how well these pads perform. Not had good experience with black or green stuff pads before, but I was giving them a lot of grief on tracks where they're probably not best suited.

Re: EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads
I tried redstuff in my AP's and I wasn't happy at all, then I swapped them for the Black diamond ones from Mike Satur and they are much better!

Re: EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads
I have used green stuff and they were not much better than standard also tried black diamond and found them not great when cold and really vibrate when hot on track.
Yellow stuff work really well straight out the box!

Re: EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads
Pads are here!
Two EBC boxes:
Un-boxed rear pads:
Here comparing front and rear: the rear pads being smaller, Rover 800-derived:
Now need to find a little time to fit them!

Re: EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads
Fitted my TT front discs with red stuff pads to the Trophy today, really impressed find them sharper than the yellow stuff.

Re: EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads
I didn't fit them last week in the end: racing on Sunday and figured that there was little chance of getting them bedded in on time.
Will do them this week. There also feels like there may be some air in the system, so a re-bleed is also on the cards...
And at the risk of this thread morphing into a general discussion on up-rating brake feel (a real MGF/TF Achilles heel IMO), I am also concerned about the amount of bulk head flex - and this in spite of some very substantial brake servo support brackets!
Hmmm... the thinking continues on that latter point...

Re: EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads
Finally fitted the yellow stuff pads. Not really driven enough to form a useful impression, but initial retardation feels just fine
Need to bed the pads in now ahead of the Abingdon CAR-nival
