Locking Wheel Nut Key Lost
Hi chaps,
This isn't for me, but just been asked by someone in the office what happens if you lose the nut key which fits over the locking wheel nut and allows you to unbolt it. I realise that there are several different keys for F's, so what happens if you lose yours? Just going to pop downstairs and see if my one fits (I live in hope!)
Cheers,

Re: Locking Wheel Nut Key Lost
The locking nuts have a number stamped on the end.
You just go to the dealer (or X-Part service centre) and ask for a replacement key for that locking nut number.
You may be asked for proof of ownership.
The alternative is to go to Halfords or look on ebay for a locking nut removal tool. They are readily available no questions asked, which kind of defies the propose of locking wheel nuts
I discovered these tools when one of my lcoking nuts broke in half, leaving half the nut still on the car, and I needed a way to remove it.

As Steve said,
but if you have lost the locking nut removal tool completely, the number is also on the security information card that should have come with the car. I needed a new one as the 'internal pins' sheared off so would not lock onto the nut and picked one up form X-Part with out even needing to order.

If you've got the old type locking nut (two lugs) then I can identify the key number from looking at the locking wheel nut and order in a replacement.

Re: Locking Wheel Nut Key Lost
Thanks for the advice I tried my one but (of course) it didn't fit. Had a look at the locking wheel nuts and they seems to have a Z stamped on them (?) Anyway, I'll tell him to look through his paperwork

Z is not a valid code, but it might be N. I which case the key is number.... I won't post it here for security reasons.
Re: Locking Wheel Nut Key Lost
i suggest that to save money in the situation u have lost they key to undo your lockers, is to find an old socket out the garage, one that is slightly smaller than the head of your nut, then get a hammer and an extension bar (so you dont hit the alloys) andknock the socket over the nut, allowing you to use your socket wrench to ease off each stud.

Re: Locking Wheel Nut Key Lost
Also is probably more expensive in the long run as you would need a new locking wheel nut set or standard wheel nuts to replace the removed locking nuts compared to the £15 or so for a new wheel nut key
