I want to install the following Bluetooth receiver in my glove box and connect it to my original MG head unit...

The BT receiver uses a 5v 300ma DC power supply, however as the car battery is 12v would this be an issue?

Can I just connect the unit straight to the 12v power supply or should I use a 12V to 5V Converter Module like this...

Or I try to just use one of these USB to DC cables, but not sure exactly what size the DC jack is...

I don't think it'll work as your stereo doesn't have an audio input, you need one that receives Bluetooth & transmit FM so you tune your stereo into a certain channel & it picks up the output from the BT device.

Just buy the best you can.

It should work as someone else has already done it. It uses the stereo's CD changer input.

I've now ordered a USB to DC power cable which I can test in the cigar lighter with a USB adapter and then I'll install a addional power supply in the glove box where I'll keep the BT receiver.

Well that's the plan...I'll let you know how I get on...

I found out that USB is 5v power so that's no longer an issue...

A few USBs are rated at 2amps and sometimes more but many are only 1 amp, make sure you have sufficient for your needs

The BT unit is only 300ma so 1/2 amps would be fine.
