Electronic Boot Release
My TF has a factory fitted boot release that operates from the key fob not a lot of use if you happen to lock your keys in the boot, my question is does anyone know where I can pick up a feed from inside the car to add a switch without running a wire from the front to the boot

Re: Electronic Boot Release
where are you going to put the switch? If you're putting it in the cabin, then just take a live from the front, if not a live from the lights would work, you'd just have to put the lights on to use the switch. Which, from a security point of view is a good idea.

Re: Electronic Boot Release
Hi daz.
I was hoping to avoid running a wire from inside the car to the boot by picking up the feed at source in the car and simply linking it to a switch.

Re: Electronic Boot Release
Gerry,
I've never looked, but guess there must be a feed from the Body Control Unit or alarm unit to the lock on the boot lid. Have a look for a wire going to the lock and then look for the same colour wire in behind the dash near the radio.

But where are you putting the switch? if it's in the cabin you need to run a wire from the boot to the front, either way it's still only one wire that needs to be run.gerry.laing wrote:Hi daz.

Re: Electronic Boot Release
I think he is hoping to tap in to a wire at the front rather than at the back.
