That 160 looks/sounds pretty good!

And at £1,600 isn't much more than a 135...

Full dealer history from day one - sounds too good to be true but still sounds positive!

Recent uprated headgasket, cam belts, just serviced, new exhaust, battery, alloys mint, brakes rebuilt, suspension rebuilt with new joints and shocks, all good tyres - all sounds really good!

However the half leather interior isn't really in good condition as the drivers bolster is clearly worn...so maybe they like to over exaggerate!

If it's as good as it looks and sounds then I'd happily pay £1,600 for it, but be quick otherwise it'll go!

full mot no advisory and hpi clear, roll bars, recent hood...all good stuff.

I'm not keen on the wood steeringwheel, I don't think it goes but you could sell that on eBay for £150 as they're quite rare...

Also the tyres look like they are cheapos, which I probably wouldn't be happy with as these cars can be very sensitive to tyres which I found out when I wrote off a TF in the rain that I'd only just brought 15 minutes before hand...it had Continental Contacts which I later read are bad in the wet...so something to consider as a new set of decent tyres would cost at least £200...

Also looks like the front drivers side wheel arch liner is missing...not the end of the world but a but a bit weird.

Sure you could easily buy one on eBay cheaply, I've actually got a spare in my shed!

I asked about tyres; 2x kaisers front & a nexan & a falken on the rear, all are extra load. So not ideal, would prefer matched based on the tyre buying guide etc

I'm not familiar with kaisers.

Nexen and falkens are ok but I definitely would not mix tyres especially in the rear!

Seems to be a trader of some kind maybe I could ask if they'd be willing to change the tyres to some decent matched ones to secure a sale (pending a viewing of course!)...

Yeah definitely you should bargain as hard as possible! But I wouldn't cut my nose if to spite my face as it 'sounds' like a really good 160...

Worst case you could just buy two kaisers for the rear so they match the front. But I'd definitely research if they suitable as these cars are sensitive to tyre choice.

Shouldn't cost more than £25 to get them both fitted...

Ah that's not too bad to get them all matching. Seems like they might be poor in wet conditions. If they're unwilling to change them to something a bit more decent could always make a lower offer.

Did you look at the 160?

I would try and buy this Trophy which is now on an auction...

It got sold before I was able to unfortunately. Just found this not far from me in Crewe https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/it ... 6902777554 may go take a look body work isn't the best but other stuff and mot history seem alright. Heating not turning off with the engine seems a bit weird.

That Trophy looks lovely but a bit out of my price range, how do they compare to drive compared with the tf160?

OK scratch the Crewe one it sold months ago fb classified ads are a bit finicky.

This tf135 near Derby seems pretty good for the price with the full service history etc. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172783783446

Try a few so you get an idea of how they feel before you buy.

You really need to sit in & drive one, how many have you actually looked at? It's a bit pointless posting car after car when you don't even know if you'll like the driving position. Find one local & go have a look, if you're close to me you can even come & sit in mine to see how you get on, I'll even have a look at a car with you if it's local, but you really need to find out if the car suits you.

I went to have a look and test drive of this 135 today in Shrewsbury http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222618143857

Only 39k but no service history apart from details of the head gasket and belt etc. being done last year by a specialist in Cannock

I really liked the driving position and the handling so thinking about putting an offer in but not sure how much as the guy had only bought it from said specialist that did the gasket a couple months back for 1800ish and doesn't want to lose too much although knows he likely paid over the odds...

Sort of keen to try a 160 now so I know the difference or maybe it's best that I don't lol

No service history means it is a gamble which ever way you look at it...it has done very few miles but you don't know if it has been serviced/looked atfer...

Have you checked MOT history, nothing untoward. Is the Cannock MG specialist Paul Depper? Might be worth contacting them to see if they have info' about the car. If you are interested let the auction run, put in bid if it's what you want and in price range. However the more MG's you look at the greater you knowledge to buy a good car. Read this if not already done so. http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group1/in ... buying.htm
