How do you value a 2010 TF ?
Three years ago I bought a very low mileage TF 135, within the last few hundred assembled by MG Motor at Longbridge. It has the 'N' series engine and has been almost trouble-free since. I did have to find a used seat belt tensioner for the passenger seat, but that's all.
My question is how on earth can one find out what a very late TF is worth ? There is nothing in the normal guides because so few were built. I suppose the answer is to advertise it and see, not that I'm selling, but I did think about whether to get an agreed-value insurance. At the mo it is insured as a normal everyday car with Churchill.
Any advice ?

I would have thought the best way is to go through for sale ads on Auto Trader, ebay, Pistonheads, Car and Classic, classic and sportscar, gumtree, preloved, trovit. Dealers will likely have higher prices (profit, overheads, warranties) than selling owners If you are trying to esablish a price for insurance many classic car policies such as those offered by Peter Best Insurance require pictures of the car so that an agreed value can be arrived at. (It would also not be your daily driver) Also note any mod's or accessories you may have had done as these add value to the car and include them in the overall value of the car. Mileage will also influence value Private seller MGTF's on Autotrader range from £5500 to £6700. I would be looking the latter figure, maybe £7000

I have just renewed my insurance with 3000 miles per annum, agreed value, legal cover. garaged, non no claims bonus system, discount for MG Car Club membership for £114.

We have a 10reg TF 52K miles, serviced by an ex MG Rover garage, it's done good service for us I would value ours at £5500 on a good day.

I see that B&G have one for sale at present for £7.5k - ridiculous when I think what I paid for mine 4.5 years ago!
I think Neil may be doing himself a slight disservice at £5.5k - I would have suggested £6k subject to condition.

Re: How do you value a 2010 TF ?
Always difficult to value but I would get a agreed insure value of £8k depending on what the mileage is of course?
I have a 2005 135 TF in black but has 70,000 miles but is in mint condition after a full respray new old stock 16 inch V spoke alloys & Trophy Calipers & discs difficult to know what that is worth now after all the above has been done?
Cheers

Trouble is spending money on upgrades doesn't usually up the price to be honest.

I have a very clean 85th Anniversary with 38,000 on the clock insured with Peter Best agreed value £6000.
Re: How do you value a 2010 TF ?
Cars are only worth what someone will pay...currently people wont pay much for a TF regardless of age or condition ..just look how many are up for sale on ebay ..I have a 135 Sunstorm which is in very nice condition with SS coolant pipes and hard top with only 31000 miles....I paid £995 and probably could have got it or less.
Seen several tidy TFs go for not much more than scrap value which is a shame but pretty much sums up the market...

Re: How do you value a 2010 TF ?
All very well saying a car is worth only what it sells for but the OP was looking for a guide on a 2010 MGTF not too sell, but presumbly for insurance.
Re: How do you value a 2010 TF ?
Insurance is always based upon market values, so what they sell for is an important factor ...looking at ebay , unless its show condition, its going to be somewhere around £5k ...which is a shame as there arent many 2010 vehicles that are worth so little ...

Not unless it's an agreed value policy...
Re: How do you value a 2010 TF ?
They will only agree a realistic value...and that will be based on what others go for ..they wont agree a £15k value on somethng only worth £5k ...
