Pektron testing and fob programming offer
I have had Rob's Pektron equipped MG ZR on my drive for a while now, and I have cracked pretty much all of the diagnostics protocol on it.
Now I need to test things on an MGF. Also it would be good to test fob programming. I have to buy Pektron fobs and once they are programmed into a car I can't "unprogram" them to test it again.
So
A: If anyone can meet up so that we can try out my Pektron protocol on an MGF then it would be much appreciated.
If you don't want any fob programming then we can look at live data, and actuate relays, and read the EKA.
B: If someone wants a fob programming into their MGF then I would welcome the opportunity to do this for you (for free) as part of the testing of the code. You will need to buy a new fob from Technozen or me first though.
In order to program in a fob you will need:-
At least one working fob, or I suppose the EKA code.
All previously used fobs which you want to remain working, with a good battery in them.
All new fobs that you want to add complete with their bar codes.
A working horn.
Any fobs not present will no longer work after the process.
I have a real T4 machine as well so if anything goes wrong then that can be used to restore the car and fobs, so it is all pretty low risk.
I am in Ruislip.

Can I pass this information on another forums among MGTF owners?

Re: Pektron testing and fob programming offer
Great to hear that there’s progress on the Pektron front.
I have enough fobs for my TF (bought a 2nd hand BCU with 2 fobs a while ago) so can’t help out on the TF front (especially as its SORN!)
Will you be looking to develop the facility to read the code from the BCU for the fob in order to transfer it to another BCU? (This is something Technozen offers I think)

I don't believe that that functionality is available through the diagnostic port. My understanding is that technozen has to do this with the Pektron in pieces on the bench, so no I don't intend to support it.

Hi Phil
Are you interested in adding a fob on a mk2 ZS?

You need to bring with you a brand new, never used, with bar code new remote fob.
Even if you can find a used fob with a Barcode I'm told that it won't work.
The difference between the genuine ones and the technozen ones is that with a genuine one when you turn on the ignition the immobiliser will automatically disable without you needing to press any buttons. With the technozen supplied ones if the immobiliser has timed out then you will have to actually press the button before starting.

Re: Pektron testing and fob programming offer
My little ZR has served its primary purpose well! I now just need to fix it so the kids can learn to drive in it (only have 4 years to do that!)
