A couple of suspension related questions.

Post by MK6 » Mon Dec 18, 2017 3:03 pm

I have been reading on the suspension and my initial thought was that the Hydragas was preferable.

But now that I have been reading more on it, it seems to be somewhat limited?

Like you can't lower it more than the factory height?

And you need very specialize equipment to set the hydragas suspension up? If that's the case and since I'm in the continent and MG and Rover dealers or independent mechanics are not plenty here, I maybe better avoid the hydragas cars?

Did all MGFs come with hydragas and did all TFs come without it?

Hello MK6;

In answer to your last question yes all F's came with Hydragas which, as far as I am concerned is the preferable suspension medium.

With regards to lowering it, why? The original designers got it spot on.

Most MGFs are at the regular height, the MGF Trophy is lower.
You can fit lowering pins to drop the height of the standard MGF.

You can get DIY equipment to adjust the suspension for under £100.

Thanks. I asked because I was reading a full article about the MGF hydragas suspension. In it I read how to change the height is a very time consuming process and needs special equipment, and since most shops work in a hurry it is a risky thing to get done.

But so the hydragas cars are the one to get for better handling? I read the TF handles a little better while the F is a more comfortable ride.
