There seems little or no interest of this event here, but due to wet Cofton Park parking for the event will now be on surrounding road. Marshalls and catering will still be present.

It is now looking like both the MG635 Register who normally attend in large numbers and the main MG Car Club, who were attending this year, will no longer be attending officially this year as there will be no where to put up the gazebos and stands in a safe environment.

With parking now just being on the public high way, parking numbers will be severely restricted around the park and the roads will get very congested, very quickly. Attendance will not be as safe as if the event is on private land with cars parked up in groups, so please do take care if you do decide to attend.

How frustrating, usually a great event. But the wet weather has been relentless around here, so not surprised the park is sodden

Organisers are asking owners that would be travelling from a distance not to attend, giving proirity to local owners and those staying in hotels for roadside parking in the area. The event is officially cancelled, maybe a status situation for insurance reasons.

From photos I have seen online the parking was not on the public highway but on the footpaths! How did they get away with that? :o

A lot of bad feeling on various social media sites, as organisers hailing it a success when so many that planned and prepared to go heeded advice and stayed away, myself included. Those that did attend seem to have had an enjoyable time. Seems to me there is a lot of yet untapped potential for an event covering BMC/British Leyland/Austin Rover/ MG Rover vehicles, in summer and one that can cope in the event of wet weather.

Me and hubby attended with some of the MGF Central lot. Yes we parked on the paths! there were plenty of cars there including classics. I believe some clubs met elsewhere though. So all was not lost.
The date of the event marks what would have been the 100th year of the factory, so it is an important date for the people, the community not just the cars of Longbridge. It is a shame it isn't in the summer though. However you can have very wet days in June and July.

The problem wasn't a wet day but several wet weeks leaving the park water logged, a couple of years ago it was snow, you don't get that in June and July.
