The OE drop links may be shared with another car as MG motor didn’t have the funds to tool up for a unique part. Toyota springs to mind for some reason, but you could contact Andy Kitson at VHS to get these...

I do have the alloy rose-jointed drop links for Project Shed - not fitted them yet to comment, sorry...

Look good and obviously low friction, but open joints will wear quicker than OE or Polybushes.

Either fit neoprene boots, or wrap in amalgamating tape to keep road dirt away from them. Don't lube as this will make more dirt stick

I fitted Celica drop links as they were pretty close to the geometry of the 85th ones and a fraction of the price.

I think as Jon mentioned Gerry - Celica - but not sure what year.

Oh, and as Jerry mentions - I've got boots for my drop links for then they do go onto Project Shed: although the car doesn't do huge miles, most are on the road getting to events rather than competing at them!

Part number 48820-20010 I think

There are several others which will do the job - all approx 75mm in length.

Silly question - what is the advantage of these over O/E spec drop links?

For normal road use, no real advantage at all.

The joints are low friction and have been traditionally used in motorsport for many years as suspension joints/ gear lever linkages/ go-kart wheel bearings etc. They are relatively cheap, come in all sorts of spec, metric/imperial/all shapes and sizes, but all suffer from high wear rates when exposed to dirt and become worn and noisy. Rally cars use them extensively, but are considered disposable per event.
For road use, neoprene boots help a lot - I used them for a while as Polybush developed some bespoke rear suspension bushes for me. The rose joints were fine after a year (with boots) - I've still got the stuff stored away in my TF store ;)

Petevick (remember him!!) followed me. This was at the time when MG-R TF spares were iffy, and I've also got a quantity of spherical bearings used in the damper lower joints and also the top rear link courtesy of a kind man in the MG-R suspension development dept. They are now commercially available!
