What replacement exhaust for my 1998 MGF?
I have the rattles, so I'm looking for a replacement for my rear exhaust box
I'd prefer a stainless steel one, and there seem to be several choices,
Milltek
Friend of mine has this, loud screamer this is IMHO, not my idea of a nice sporty sound.
Toyosport
I think I'm liking the Toyosport's sound a lot (as far as one can judge from youtube videos) but it seems to be a lousy fit.
TT
Too loud for my taste if what I'm reading here and there is correct.
Mike Satur / Daytona
This seems to be nice, and at £349,- it's not exactly cheap, but not breaking the bank either...
Oh, wait.
You need to order the fittings, at £7,20. And the link pipe, at £42,- isn't exactly cheap either. Oh, and if I want end pipes, the simple round ones start at a whopping €78, adding up to almost £470,- not including shipping...
It will probably be close to £500 including shipping. Which is €560, more than the tailor made system I mention below, and that was their price including fitting it...
The pricing system is like those cheap airline tickets, that end up expensive because of all kinds of extras you need to pay for but weren't mentioned.
I'm feeling a NO coming...
So...
I'm still looking for a warm sporty sounding, not too loud system.
It would be nice if it's affordable too, I know some guys that will make me a tailor made, four pipe SS box, but I'm finding €550 quite stiff.
I'm coming over end of October, so I could even pick one up.
suggestions are very welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Re: What replacement exhaust for my 1998 F
On a previously owned MGF Trophy I had a TT exhaust. Many, many owners like them, for me the sound was just too intrusive, however it was also a poor fit ( with limited poor feedback from the seller on how to rectify the problem) and most of the gasses exit one pipe.
On my current TF I have a cat back Scorpion exhaust and couldn't be more pleased with it. I have subsequantly had the ecu remapped by kmaps, and the combination of both give the right exhaust note for me at all times with the ocassional pop and burble. They are a more expensive than many, but for me worth it, and occasionally they do come up for sale on ebay or other sites.
Other popular ones I can think off are Mike Satur Daytona, and MG Owners Club supersports

Re: What replacement exhaust for my 199
We have had Daytonas on the 3 TFs we've owned we've done 10s of 1000s of miles on Freg tours and seen & heard most exhaust & IMHO the Daytona is the best all rounder some of the noisy ones get boring after a while but the Daytona is quiet when you want it to be & fruity when you want it to be.

Re: What replacement exhaust for my 1998 F
I have just fitted a toyosport, it has to come off to adjust the hangers so it fits properly
but
it sounds nice.

Re: What replacement exhaust for my 1998 F
I fitted a Daytona + the 4-2-1 manifold to my 1995 F and have to say it is my favourite of all the exhausts. I do have a Milltek on Zip and my daily has a TT mk 7. At the end of the day like all these decisions it is personal preference alongside budget.
Loud & Proud ... TT Exhaust, oh, and don't forget Zip

Re: What replacement exhaust for my 1998 MGF?
Thank you all for helping me out.
The TT seems to be quite loud, so that's not going to be my choice.
The Daytona seems nice, but turns out to be annoyingly expensive in the end (see first post)

How about a Supersports? Subtle increase in noise, but more sporting than a standard exhaust and nice shiny stainless steel.

David mentioned them as well, but I can find very little about them, sound is said to be nice and quite subtle, but no samples, let alone where to get them.
Edit: I shot my spellchecker.

Doesn't seen to be able to add thrm to cart, so maybe not currently available butl link here to buying, they are made by Double S exhaust systems in Devon, but you cannot buy direct from them as MGOC has exclusive rights to selling them. (or at least that was the case 18 months ago) leshttps://www.mgocspares.co.uk/acatalog/MGOC_SPAR ... T_944.html

Re: What replacement exhaust for my 1998 MGF?
Well, I decided to take the jump with the Toyosports, I kept coming back to those because sound and looks, I'll have to go through the fitting drama I guess, we'll see how that goes.
But at £165 including all fittings I'll be happy to do some swearing.
