Hi,
Does anyone have any info /pics on the press release cars ,i was mulling over the service book and came across a stamp for Rovers Press Department and wondered if there is any info on released cars

THAT is a VERY good question. And the Register really ought to know the answer. Trouble is, I don't - does anyone else know the identity of the press cars, how many there were, and what their chassis numbers were?

Don't think the Trophy Press cars are actually listed in the data. Will check when I'm on the PC tomorrow.

I believe a guy called Simon Holt has one as its reg is very close to mine according to ARMG

Some of the first Trophy's off the production line went to Rover Engineering Vehicles so may have been Press Cars. The first 3 built were built on 14/12/2000. The earliest VIN is 524879.

On 'You Tube' there is footage of Trophys Y166 UOB (yellow) and Y169 UOB (blue) being road tested. Also Y157 UOB (red) a 1.6 model is also road tested.

It seems that the 4th, 6th, 7th & 8th Trophy's built had UOB registrations. We don't know which dealers (or part of MG Rover) they were despatched to, so any info from number plates, stamps in service books would help the Register fill a hole in the data. Photos of any evidence gratefully received ~ registrar@mgfregister.org

xOB registration area code is for Birmingham for this plate format, so that makes sense.

How many press cars were there, and what are their identities? Also, do they all still exist?

My Trophy was the first made it has a KOX number, registered to Rover Eng vehicles. David

Y168 UOB, yellow Trophy currently for sale at the well known dealer of the same name. Maybe an early F Trophy if the UOB sequence has the earlist Trophy's.
