Insurance

Post by Db09 » Sat Nov 30, 2019 7:54 pm

Hi
We now own 2 f’s and a tf .
I’m thinking of putting a limited mileage insurance on my early volcano orange f .
I was thinking about 4K a year .
Also putting it away for the winter .
Putting it on sorn.
Anyone got any recommendations for the best insurance company to use please.

Peter Best are quite good on limited policies and Lancaster gave me quite a good deal on my F.

A-plan in Bletchley are also pretty good - but classic insurance companies are generally better for more limited insurance. Agree with James' suggestions :thumbsu:

Just a quick note that with absolutely no changes to the policy that Peter Best (certainly not the best) have hiked the premium by over 35% from last year. Phoned them and they won't budge on it, very poor performance on their part.

It seems to be a recurring story at present for the 20 year old cars.
Would be interesting to see how the "real" classic cars (,over 40 ) are fairing.
I think the club needs to look for another source, as it's no longer a benefit. Certainly for the F owners, which are currently a large contingent!

Thats interesting, when i first got my TF in 2004 I insured it with FJ but then they stopped doing modern cars. My PreWar MG insurance with P.Best renewal this year was practically the same as last years. Diesel ZT went up a little though, but not 30%+

Insurance is a minefield Einstein couldn't understand, we've been with AVIVA for a few years, this year it went up by £50ish, so we tried comparison sites one that came up at £203 was Quote Me Happy but underwritten by AVIVA :D in the end we went with LV for £223.
We have 2 cars with AVIVA & our house insurance, which, allegedly gives us a discount, when we rang to say we won't be renewing they never batted an eye lid, no better offer or anything?
