What colour to paint my AP brake calipers & brake upgrade projects

Hi chaps

I am prevaricating over what colour to re-paint my AP calipers. The original tomato red has been sand blasted off! I’ve included this colour in the options but I’m not keen: it doesn’t really suit a BRG MGF imo.

So options are black or “MG” burgundy. To give you an idea, a cam cover I’ve previously painted as a colour guide with the original caliper:

I’m on the fence but possibly erring towards black...

Definitely black rob...with silver lettering ;) i think the burgundy will look very dark when behind the wheel anyway!!

You could also consider Silver with the MG logo in Black. I've seen a set done that way and it looked good with the Wheels.

I had not considered that - a very interesting idea! :thumbsu:

I chose for gold in combination with brg!
I think it looks chique.

It's a great colour I completely agree. Would pop against BRG. But not for me on this one... The wheels will be changing colour too. Either a titanium silver or a deep bronze - so having neutral(ish) brake calipers would a good idea :)

Do you have pictures? Could look good - I had thought of a dark bronze (similar effect I think) :thumbsu:

Got to be black I think with the colour of wheels you are considering 👍

Black is certainly the easiest option I think...

If you go for a gold colour for your wheels then black with gold writing for the calipers would look good!

Does Rob go for bling ;) , or is he looking for maximum brake efficiently?

I'm going for satin black for the calipers, with silver script. Matt black is a good radiator (and receiver) of heat, so could be useful for track use?

Hmm. Nice challenge for you Robb. But something quite different, based on MG-pedigree: Cream Cracker: brown and cream. Does well with the green and although not sporty to today's standard, it has a very sporty history.

Great idea - that is definitely the option I was considering (I've also found that Smoothrite appears to be surprisingly heat resistant). I also have a gloss black engine enamel and that MG burgundy colour.

I like that, thanks for posting! Looks a little like zinc plating with yellow passivating :thumbsu:

AP calipers are much larger visually - so this would need to be handled with some care I think...

I would have been inclined to have painted the hub part of the disc, as that always becomes rusty over time.
