Rear Bumper Removal 2002 MG TF

Post by NeilG » Wed Aug 10, 2022 8:11 pm

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help .
On this lovely hot day I decided to start removing the rear bumper to gain access and tidy an area of bodywork .The rear mudflap fixings are not playing ball and have corroded. Any suggestions for undoing the two lower and one upper fixings without damaging the small arch liner and mud flap?
Many thanks

Penetrating oil or drill the heads off the screws.

The main issue that you are likely to find is the two main large Torques bolts as they tend to seize into the crush cans that can start to collapse so try plenty of penetrating oil on those. Even then you may find that you can feel the cans collapsing so one option is unbolt the cans from the body behind the boot carpet.
