Hi All,
Finally pulled the trigger on a TF160. 60k, one owner with a shed load of paperwork from the likes of MGFnTFBITZ and other MG specialists.
The only (hopefully) small fly in the ointment is the engine light is on, but my reader says “No DTC’s.” It hasn’t been used much in the recent past and on the test drive behaved impeccably so I’m hoping a battery disconnection for a good length of time and a good run will sort that.

Update:
Another reader was tried and found P0170. So will see how it goes, if it disappears after a re-fuel with decent fresh petrol. Any recommendations for a reader that works with TF’s appreciated.

Congrats on snagging that TF160, sounds like a sweet ride with all that paperwork history. The engine light situation can be a bit nerve-wracking, but it's great that there are no DTCs showing up. A good battery disconnect and a solid run might just do the trick to reset things. Fingers crossed for you! On a side note, I've been reading up about cross country car shipping lately, as I'm considering a move myself. It's intriguing how people manage to transport their beloved cars across long distances. This forum seems like a goldmine of experiences and knowledge.

Hey Michael! Congrats on snagging the TF160. The engine light hiccup can be nerve-wracking, but fingers crossed a good battery reset and drive will do the trick. Also, if you ever need car transport services, A-1 Auto Transport could be worth checking out.

A nice looking car. Well done on bagging it. If the previous owners have had it worked on by 'Bitz it suggests they are knowledgeable about the brand and have wanted to do things properly.

An ECU remap by KMAPS or SAWS will deal with random appearances of the MIL light without a cause and also remove it's dependence on any faults that may occur with the SCU. IMHO it could well be worth going for just for those benefits

Did you sort the MIL?

On The MG/R(over) cars the warning light will come on if there is a perceived event likely to cause poor emisions.
The light will clear after 5 full ignition cycles after the event was cleared.
It is not uncommon for a new owner to see the light soon after taking over a car as the ECU gets confused by the new style of driving but it soon clears as the ECU realises it's just a change in driving style.
