There is an article in the Daily Fail today about future classics.
The MGF makes it onto the list and they claim there are only 23 left in the country registered and on the road with 54 SORN's
Anyone know if this figure is accurate? It seems very low.
How many MGF's are left?

According to the www.howmanyleft.co.uk web site (not a bastion of accuracy but often close enough) there are currently around 5200 MGF’s on the road and not SORN. The SORN number is much higher.

The Daily Fail has done it's usual stunt of generating a "News" article without doing ANY research and simply spouting what drifted into the "journalist's" head between heavy sessions propping-up a bar.
I stopped believing anything in that newspaper some time in the 1970' when they talked about a new RN Frigate equipped with "Air-to-Air missiles"
If you want news, read Private Eye: They were reporting the Post Office abuse of and wrongful prosecution of Sub Post Office managers back in September 2011.
If the Daily Fail "reporter" had just bothered to look on Autotrader, he would have found 28 FOR SALE (presumably all roadworthy and with MOT's.) I think there is a way of checking with DVLA how many are registered, as I recall it was around 2,000?

Re: How many MGF's are left?
Thats a motoring journalist who needs to learn how to use select criteria in a search engine.
That number of 54 will be for a very small subset such as the surviving number of MGFs of a certain engine type, specification and colour combination that were made in a particular year.
But hey, if the Daily Mail's disinformation make our cars more valuable to collectors maybe they should keep it up.

Even in our, smal, country. I think it easy to summerise up to a number that is facors higher. It must be a student reporter born after 2010 who writes that sort on nonsence down.
MGFvvc - 90FVBG - charcoal - you might think it is original - (1996 nr:8204)
MGTF 120 - 57RNJ7 - BRG - every day is an MG day - (2005)
MGC CGT - SJ08DY - tartan red - 1985 restauration fairly original - (1968 nr: 4137)
