Remote Engine Start

Has anyone fitted a remote engine start?

Is it possible?

I’d like to start the engine remotely to warm it up so it’s ready to drive when I go out… :thumbsu:

Go to the greengrocer and buy a large King Edward. Place it next to your bed and then you can get a potato clock...

Not really a good idea - a better way would be to have a pre-heater, if power, parking etc allow it.
Engines normally like to be started, slightly raised idle for a very short time to allow fluids to circulate, then drive off "sensibly" without excessive revs until things warm up. Wear is at it's greatest during start up, what happens when warm/hot is up to you :)

Emergency vehicles normally parked up are plugged into some form of preheating, not for personal comfort, but maximum engine performance from the off.
F1/ competition engines are often so tight, pre-warming is essential to get the engines to turn over.

F/TFs are pretty quick at warming up normally, but yes, starting with wet clothes and no air con can be "messy" until a warm/hot air flow in the cabin starts circulating.

Just my view

Also your insurance company may also have heart palpitations and refuse to cover the car so check first.
