Beautiful looking car Erik. Brings back memories of learning to drive in my Dad's Austin 1300.

I know it is getting harder to source Hydrolastic parts but this does seem a bit extreme.

Re: Look what I've bought . . .
It must be a Pre 1968 Mk1 according to the rear lights. My 1968 1300 2 door was shortened by a Head On with a lorry on the ice south of Tuzla Jugoslvija. The replacement 1300 Countryman (Estate) cost me £432 off the Stand at Belgrade Motor Show but on finnaly returning to UK it would not pass the MOT due to excessive camber on the front wheels due to bowing of the front subframe. At least a clutch change takes less than 2 hours.
I must see if I can find the Original Workshop Manual in the attic.
Enjoy it.

Euhm... it's British
Adrian: >>> Think they caught you there mate if you were looking for a Z <<<
Absolutely... I realised it when we drove off
Adrian: >>> back seats for Lotte <<<
THE reason why we were looking for another MG

People in the ADO16 scene say that that is one of the most heard comments. For me, you're the first one
Andrew: >>> I see you got the faster version, a red one!. <<<
I must remember that one .... still thinking about some black viper striping to sort the acceleration times
Fletch: >>> to source Hydrolastic parts <<<
I know, just found out they aren't the same ....
Mark: >>> looks good in red <<<
Yeah, you're right. The can look really bad (and wrong) when they haven't the right color and aren't well cared.
Geoff: >>> It must be a Pre 1968 Mk1 <<<
That's right. It's an early '67 (first registered in March 67).
Could you tell me more about the rear lights. I knew about the engine (1100 vs. 1300) and the dashboard, but didn't know about anything else different between mk1, 2 and 3.

Nice one, Erik! I passed my driving test in one of those. They must be very rare in Belgium.

Re: Look what I've bought . . .
I remember Dad having a red 1100, and my gran a blue 1100.
Someone in the village back home had a white 1300GT
So Erik, when is the MG Metro Turbo engine and gearbox going in????

Re: Look what I've bought . . .
Ooh reminds me of my dads old 2 door 1300 MG (he always said it was pretty rare), which he bunged a straight through centre exhaust on a blueprinted head and some other trickery - It was a beast in a sort of Burgandy colour, he used to like trouncing capri drivers in it back in the 70's / early eighties.
He had a daimler double six coupe as his normal car, but he seemed to enjoy the sleeper car MG a lot more!
Have fun Eric, it should be a hoot!

Re: Look what I've bought . . .
A nice find, Erik, but don't leave it out in the rain or it may dissolve & disappear. The BL 1100/1300 range was very prone to rust and there aren't many of them left, whichever model they are. I don't think the MG sold in huge volumes compared to the Austin/Morris badged cars so yours may definitely be a rare one (I presume it's got the steering wheel on the left?)
In many respects the cars are just a bigger version of the hydrolastic minis, with all the same problems - subframes, radius arms, knuckle joints, engine steady bar, gearbox mounting, transfer gear - the main difference with the MG/Wolseley/Riley/Vanden Plas versions was the twin SU set up.
Enjoy it!

Nice car. This is the one I used to own. 1300 GT, it was one of the last 125 made.
Re: Look what I've bought . . .
This shows the Rear Light change with the top angled forward which reduces the 'Rear Fin' length. The same change was applied to the MGB.Red Devil wrote: Nice car. This is the one I used to own. 1300 GT, it was one of the last 125 made.
