Re: New Forum - Love it/Hate it
I think automatic re-sizeing of a picture for your avatar like the old forum would be a good idea as I found it a pain cropping ptcture small enough to upload and no doubt it is going to cause a problem for the less computer litterate among us.
The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds. The pessimist fears that this is true.

Re: New Forum - Love it/Hate it
The old forum cared nothing for users bandwidth, I could have used a 12mb picture as my avatar and it would have made you downloaded it all. It didn't resize the images, it just changed the display size.Dell wrote:I think automatic re-sizeing of a picture for your avatar like the old forum would be a good idea as I found it a pain cropping ptcture small enough to upload and no doubt it is going to cause a problem for the less computer litterate among us.

I for one think it's a step in the right direction
I was a registered user of the old site, but didn't like the layout and found it "clumsy" to navigate.
This site is much nicer to use and looks alot fresher, the only additions that immediately spring to mind to make it better (IMO ofcourse) is a choice of skins, a user gallery and giving me mod status oh and more smilies!!

Re: New Forum - Love it/Hate it
I embrace change at every chance because more often than not it it's new, challenging and fresh.
1, My only gripe is where/when was the coundown!!!! - Coz i didn't hear it
2. how/where is the archived stuff, ie: old messages etc
Was away in London and experienced problems logging on - Then hey presto new site!

Re: New Forum - Love it/Hate it
This week is the changeover week and it's been an announcement at the top of every board on the old forum.PHLEB wrote:I embrace change at every chance because more often than not it it's new, challenging and fresh.

And it'll be archived and locked in the old forum.

James
Forgive me for being a bit 'OFF' but how is it a 'change over week' apart fro the obvious!
if so we must be able to access stuff we had on the old forum - still be able to read it and respond to it - at the moment I can't - thats why I asked the initial question.
Q - where is it - how do we get it?

Re: New Forum - Love it/Hate it
Always best to have your own dedicated forums and site for deffo
but i hate the avatars on the wrong side and i hate the theme and the way it quotes back to front with the quote under the reply!
give us some themes to choose from and leave this theme as default

I love this new layout. The only thing that confuses me is the place of the avatars.

There will be new themes, but it was considered a low priority over getting the forum working in the first place.

Re: New Forum - Love it/Hate it
All the old stuff is on the old forum still, where it will always be, you can still make new posts there and respond to stuff you've written for this week, hence the point of a changeover week.PHLEB wrote:James
