Do MG build Force Fields - like in Star Trek ?

Or maybe I should just wire it up to the national grid while it's parked,
and watch it zap things.

Back in the 60s someone got rather tired of the attention his Mini Cooper S was getting while locked in his fathers garage and did exactly that. The father was an ex Met policeman and worked with me which is how I heard about it. I'm sure today in these environmentally consciuos times you would need to get an Energy Star compliant and recyclable setup.

If it lives in a garage you can very easily wire up a cattle fence to the garage door from the inside. Then just work out how to increase the current - generator>powerstation>National Grid......Glad to hear you have something worth defending again!

I have my honour, Charles.
Since I don't have a garage or free-range cattle fences (*oxymoron alert) in the vicinity, that will have to suffice. 8-)

(why I oughta....... :yeah: )

I could adjust the level of the tachyon emissions I suppose.

On a lighter note - driving home from Romsey tonight, in the dark, the smile was
there, though no-one else could see it.
Blasting out Steely Dan just added to the pleasure. 8-)

My car went in to be resprayed towards the end of May with a predicted job start date of June 1st. It's now 29th of June and I'm told it will be hopefully finished next Tuesday.....(ish). To me, that means it will have spent at least three of those five weeks sat in the corner of the workshop doing nothing, but I'm biting my lip, trying not to lose it.
I do feel a request for a complimentary second service coming on though.

Hang in there, Jimlad - it will be worth it, just to get that smile back on your face.
You may even cry. 8-)

Let's hope you get it back with all its badges. 8-)

This thread has been dormant for nearly a year, so I thought it was time to revive it. LE500 #98 goes to Longbridge on Tuesday for a warranty re-spray. Started the process just before the warranty expired last October as significant areas of paint began disappearing. Back in a week they say; I shall report back then. Need to have it in tip-top condition before it goes in the shipping container in July.

Indeed, our "short" [11 year] trip to the UK comes to an end when we fly out of Heathrow on 17 July. It is time to retire to Aotearoa, the Land of the Long White Cloud, or as some have suggested; "The Land of the Wrong White Crowd". Going to miss the MGers (Fs & Ys) but there will be new MGers to meet down-under.

Just over two years ago, I promised to "report back in a week". Ha!

So the LE500 disappeared into the system for a respray, as mentioned, and never returned, and never returned and never returned and our departure date from the UK was looming. And the car never returned ...
I was walking up the airbridge about to fly out, still on the phone chasing MG to ensure that the car would be at the shippers for loading into the container that day. Two months later, it duly arrived in NZ. Imagine my frustration when I collected the car from the wharf, only to find that the only part repainted was the front bumper.

Several zillion emails and texts later the cause was finally taken up by MG (NZ) and finally the car was off to the paint shop. Only seven weeks later, I have, today, collected my beautifully re-sprayed LE500 from the paint shop - 19 months after the end of the warranty period. It has taken a while ... But - it looks fabulous. :D

The sun was setting as we arrived home, giving the new paint job a golden hue.

Looking amazing in its new home! Shame it's only taken 2 years to finally get it sorted - most people would have given up by now! :thumbsu:

So, I've just finished reading this very long thread!
I started reading as I am currently searching for a LE500 in time for my 50th birthday in April.
I have been researching with interest the history of the NAC TFs for a while and one of my concerns after seeing footage of pre-primed Chinese built shells being hand painted at Longbridge, was how good is the paint quality!

So now, after 10 years can I ask the current LE owners, how are the car's fairing?

Ours isn't an LE, just a run of the mill 2010 TF135 having covered 55K miles, the paint Frost White has stood up rather well, but beware of the Chinese variety of misty headlamps, ours is on its 3rd set :D
