Oh B****r!!!

Post by redbeard57 » Tue Mar 22, 2011 9:03 pm

Or words to that effect......

Travelling home this evening in a loose convoy, a black Skoda pulled in between us.....Julie stopped at the red lights, the Skoda driver, who admitted he was somewhat distracted, failed to and this was the result!!! :( :(

At least he admitted responsability, but we will have to see what happens next.....it is just a pity that the other cars that stopped saw me pull up, and they then carried on, so the only witness to the incident has an intrerest

Should also say that Julie is Ok, if a little shocked, but does have a very sore arm tonight.

Horrible thing to happen but at least there were no serious injuries.

Hope the TF gets fixed without any hassle :)

Glad you're both ok. Hope you get the car sorted soon without too much hassle from the insurance company. We need it to be sorted by July so you can bring it to Somerset Shenanigans :)

Best wishes,

Nigel & Jo

Ouch!
Glad to hear that her injuries are minor, but make sure she doesn't sign off on anything till any soft tissue injuries have time to manifest themselves.
My daughter's boyfriend was rear-ended a year ago and he is still suffering back and neck problems. I don't know about the UK but here a driver who punts another from behing is considered liable 99% of the time.
Good luck with the repairs and recovery!

Not another bump on that A540? I take it it is that road, certainly looks like it. Sorry to hear about the car but glad to hear there weren't any major injuries.
Cars (even MGs) can be repaired.

Julie sorry to hear about the bump but glad to hear you are (currently) not badly hurt. Really annoying when somebody just doesn't stop at lights. Let's hope that rear damage is only light and/or that MG Motor actually have spare panels.
Best wishes from John & Lyn.

Sorry to hear the news, hope it gets sorted, at least Rimmer Brothers have bodyshells, and being so new the market value should exceed the repair costs and avoid a write-off as seems to happen so often with earlier MGs and Rovers.

Oh no! And to a 85LE too :(

Getting the body work sorted shouldn't be a problem - someone rear ended my F resulting in not so dissimilar damage, which got repaired quite well back in 1997/98. The tricky bit may be getting hold of those 85LE stickers... Might be worth contacting Ian Pogson if you have problems getting replacements.

Many thanks for all your kind thought, Julie is feeling better about it all today, it is now just all the inconvenience of having the work done...

Sorry to hear about the accident :(

This is exactly the reason I have recently bought one of these . . .

Image

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:IT

I bought it to record some runs but people have these fitted to record all journeys and to use in insurance claims etc to prove the nutter hit you and not the other way round! Although at the time of an accident a driver will admit liability they often change their mind after speaking to their insurers!

Its plug and play, has a motion sensor so automatically switches on and off and not bad quality recordings.

Stick in a standard SD card and it records 2 mins, 5 mins or 15 min sections then returns to the first section, deletes it and starts again.

Sounds very reasonable! Wouldn't help in a rear impact, unless you had split screen and a second camera pointing to the rear?

It woud prove you didnt reverse into him! which some people may claim after they hit you!

I have only had the camera for a week of so and its easy to swing it round 360 (using your finger) if you need to so if youre in a lot of stop start traffic simply swing it around to point to the rear if you are worried about anyone behind.

The lens has a fisheye type (simon will know what I mean) I have tested this. If I'm sitting at a set of lights - 3 lanes - me in the centre lane and a car eith side - all the bumpers are level, the lens picks up the front of the cars on either side! It's about 180.

Its not the greatest DVR but they are becoming more popular for accidednt insurance purposes possibly due to their cost and size.

Early examination by the repair agent are suggesting that the fate of the 85th is hanging by a.thread....chassis damage and the requirement to remove the whole of the rear subframe is making the cost of repair very marginal against ab full write off"....

Sorry to hear that Simon.
We would have no chance at all with getting the older F's repaired as they are worth so little in the eyes of the rest of the world and the insurers :(
