Re: The 100K Club
Well Cath managed to pass the 100K last night driving home from Bedford in her 1996 MGF.
Must say I thought it was going to take a bit longer to get to this milestone, but four trips to Bedford and back to help in her daughters Florist's over the Xmas has bumped up the mileage.
Happy to report the F behaved itself impeccably

Re: The 100K Club
The newly acquired Mk1 VVC "Elsie" will join the club fairly soon as she only has a couple thousand miles to go:-
So in a few months she will be a proud member too as she has already clocked over to the 98k+ mark. Must find and check her engine number to see if it's original motor still. We have a bit of history with her but not a lot hence my wanting to check.

Re: The 100K Club
Just passed the 100K a few days ago in Poland. On the motorway at the time, but 180 miles later we arrived here at Stalag Luft 3, just to make it a bit more interesting!

Re: The 100K Club
Well "Elsie" passed into the 100k club on July 8th, however due to some gliches on my PC was not able to upload the photos or log in here. Then BT lost out internet service for us for a week ....................................... once again .
Anyway here is the photo evidence:-
Just before the magic numbers rolled around.
Whoo-Hoo. Then I found a farm entrance to pull into off the A52 so the 100000 photo could be taken.
What was odd despite it being mid morning on a week day the road was empty and this the main road into Skegness from Boston which is normally busy this time of year.
"Elise" is a Mk1 MGF VVC in BRG (HAM) of 1996 registration.
The road sign is for Wainfleet St Mary.

Re: The 100K Club
I have just bought an F with 108k, the car was diagnosed as needing a new gearbox by a garage and was due to be scrapped or broken for parts, I do not like to see this happen, after getting the car on the ramp I could see the problem, it required a clutch slave cylinder which has now been fitted and alls well, I cannot keep it so it will be in the for sale section soon

Re: The 100K Club
Our new f George has 102,000 on the clock tight as a drum .
Seems like f's can cope with high mileage unlike some of the so called better cars .
Anyone know of any f's with more then 150,000 on clock or even 200,000 and still going ?

Yes, my Jan '96 MPi at 187,000 with a couple of headgaskets and a clutch but very little else replaced, still drove very nicely. Sadly the 4th cambelt gave up last month at 59 months and 59000 miles so it may be all over. I have booked professional assessment in a couple of weeks and am out of the country meantime.

Re: The 100K Club
I don't have an image (no website to support it) but my 1998 MGF VVC clocked up 200,000Km on it's way to the Australian 2015 MG National Meeting! 4,700Km round trip completed with no issues.

Re: The 100K Club
Finally I got the 100k miles after 15 years..
Still with the first engine, still without blown head gasket.
Touch wood.
The most reliable car I ever owned.
Happy motoring.
PS. if you ask how that bloke managed to let the head gasket survive for such a long time ?
Dead easy, I got the magic R200 exhaust manifold support bracket in when the car was new. (Hint from Roger Parker back in 1999)
http://mgfcar.de/exhaust_bracket/index.htm
WCU100990 exhaust support bracket, fits to MGF MK1 only and takes off the force from the down pipe/manifold combination to the cylinder head

Re: The 100K Club
When over in Holland back in June 2005 I saw my first 80th anniversary TF, I loved it and bought mine in 2008 at 23,000 miles. Pearl is now on 80,000 but every 000 anniversary she has been abroad funny enough and she has visited 20 countries in that time, however, back to the point.Db09 wrote:Our new f George has 102,000 on the clock tight as a drum .

That same very lovely TF is owned by Math Agelink and Sanna Eichhorn, both police officers in the Dutch force. In 2005 Math was using the car for work complete with blue lights (magnetically mounted on the bonnet) and I believe the same situation applies. Recently it passed 320,000 km's (200,000 miles) and they are looking forward to 400K in the not too distant future. Not bad for a 2004 car
Bilstein shocks, Piper 4-2-1 manifold, Daytona, Vader cold-air induction, custom Z and F Stage 2 re-map, Electric boot release, braided hoses, Blue Magnecor leads, Technozen relays, Stage 1 head, BMW Angel Eyes headlights, "MG" puddle lights.

Hi Adrian. Is this the same car that came to Coast to Coast back in 2006 - possibly?adrianclifford wrote:When over in Holland back in June 2005 I saw my first 80th anniversary TF, I loved it and bought mine in 2008 at 23,000 miles.
